Anyone catching anything in Kansas?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about going out this weekend and doin some fishing at butler but I was wondering if anyone else is catching them else where?

thanks guys

Swim Senko, traps, and spinner baits have been working for me.  Fish are pretty active between monsoons.   ;)

Caught a couple small ones this last weekend. One slow rolling a spinnerbait near the bottomin about 10 foot and the other on a t-rigged craw, pitching into submerged brush.

I've been having good luck every weekend for the past 5 weekends.

It started with small dinks 5 weeks ago .5 to 1 lbrs. as temps warmed started getting 2 o 4 lbrs the week before last. Last weekend fishing was tough with the wind Saturday caught 2 2 lbrs spent more time fighting the wind. The bank fishers were not catching any. Another boat was going for crappie only caught one in the time they were there.

caught a 3.05 on a spinnerbait last thursday evening about 7, and ive had a bunch that have been anywhere from 15-17 in. on same bait

shad color is the way to go....

Great post! That was pretty good!

Haven't fished in KS much lately. Buddies saying the Bass are moving up. Wish the weather would relax some!

Happy Releasing,

WORD ON THE STREET IS BUTLER HAS THE ZEBRA MUSCLES - PLEASE PLEASE  TAKE THE PROPER MEASURES AFTER FISHING IN ZEBRA MUSCLE LAKES!  THEY ARE SPAWNING RIGHT NOW (ZEBRAS) AND THE WAY IT HAS BEEN EXPLANINED TO ME ... NOW IS THE EASIEST TIME TO TRANSPORT THEM!

WHAT!!! Thats going to tick me off

Does it surprise you? Zebra Mussels spread like wildfire. Despite the fact we do all we can to stop it, there's always someone that lets em spread. :'(

Keep doing our preventive measures and educate everyone you can.

It really sucks!  I am a little HOT at the KDWP that they are not doing more to educate, test and in general let folks know how serious the issue is!

I am treating ANY public body of water in KS like it has them.  I am washing my boat with diluted bleach inside and out everytime I fish in them.  I think everyone needs to do the same, but this is only my opinion.

These things are going to be everywhere!

Sorry to come off topic!  Didn't really mean too.  I started another thread for this conversation.

Too wet to work so I fished three strip pits yesterday.  First two were too muddy but caught one 3.5# on a swim senko.  The last one I went to I caught 22 on a swim senko, but the total weight probably wasn't 20#.   ;D

Friday 5/9 Caught 10 bass 1 to 4lbs and one very hungry crappie on a crank bait.  ;D Fished mainly cranks and chatter baits.

I have been catching fish on Drop Shot at Marion County Lake.

Mostly males. Fishing bluffs in 10-20 FT. ;)

Sat 9/10 Fishing was tough. Got on the lake about 1/2 hour before the wind started. Only caught two dinks before I gave up fighting the wind.

I hope everyone else had better luck than I did.

caught a 5 1/2 on big hill saturday for an aba tourney

How do you like fishing that ABA series? I think I'm going to give it a try this Summer

its been good to me in terms of tourney experience....but in s.e. kansas, because of the slot limits on the lakes i fish, you have to do it by paper.  if you dont have a non-boater, you have to stop fishing, and go get the fish measured by another competitor.

Its an alright group, but its more points based, tryin to get to the national chamionship, then it is about winnin money...

Are you serious?  ;) That sucks.

Me n fatmanslim will probably make it out there sometime this year.

Friday 5/16 another 10 in the boat 2-3.5 lbrs crank bait mostly.

Can't get to the area the big boys stay, the weeds are thick this year.

Hoping as temps warm the sun burns the weeds down.

The water is clearest I've seen in years at Brown Co. Lake guess the thickness of the weeds are working as a filter on the north end.

Big carp are rolling in the weeds and being taken by bow.

Not my choice of fishing but some like it, may have to try it some day.

Tight lines everyone

Me and jay went to harvey county east this weekend, i caught 5 ranging from 14-19 inches, and jay caught a dink.... His lure was bigger than the fish.  I had a good time though and the lake was pretty busy

Sat. 5/24 7 bass in the boat the bigest was 5.5 lbs several 2.5 lbrs

and one dink a crappie and one very mad bluegill the wife said he fought like a bass.

Only had aoout and hour and half on Thursday, but still caught a limit.  Nothing huge but in the 1-2 pound range.
