Lake Fork

Featured Replies

I'm looking for information about Fork for a trip this weekend.

We will be driving in from McKinney and was looking for a good launch site that would be convenient for Birch Creek. Also, how much will the recent storms have affected the patterns described by Mr. Tom Reddington?

Thanks in advance for any information!

Go to the public ramp by Rainswood Marina on FM 515.  It's on the north side of the lake.  Go east under the bridge and Birch is your first big cove on the north.  While you're up there, past the power lines, through the cut close to the east bank, go another 400 yards and there will be a big 'open' rectangular area to the left.  Work the north tree line with jigs, blades and cranks, work the open field with traps and c-rigs, then work the area between there and the north bank.  Those cedar trees and grass flats can be awesome this time of the year.  ;)

Good luck.

watch those stumps on Fork, i thought i was being extra cautios and still came home with a hole in my hull.

You will find the lake in a period of transition. Most of the fish have spawned with lots of post spawners. In Birch the spawn should be behind you enough for the fish to become active again. They will be fattening up and hanging deeper. The saying on Fork is if you are not cussing grass you are not in the bass. You will also catch some in the grass, the last Sharelunker (March 11, full moon) came from 7' water in the grass. You will have very few bed fish to sight fish for but the lake is clearing for the most part in most areas. I will be back at the lake house on Fork starting the 1st of May for two weeks. Let me know what you do to connect . We want pictures.

Thank you all for the information!  I haven't fished Fork in 15 years and I'm looking forward to being reaquainted.

I'll make sure to let you know how the trip fared.  Hopefully they did not get a ton of rain today.
