Thinking about having a tournament this spring?

Featured Replies

Ok here's the deal, we are thinking about having a 1 day tourny for a club fund raiser. My question is this, If we was to have a $1000.00 gauranteed 1st place and pay top four places something like 2nd- $650 3rd- $400 and 4th- $200 with a possible bump in pay depending on numbers of boats do you think this would draw to a lake like Wilson or Eldorado Lake?  Make it like a $100 entry per boat if you pre enter and $125 if you enter at the lake.

Sometime in March or April? Who all would make the pull????

Another question? Big bass or best 5 in the box?

i think wilson would be the better lake. Even the guys I know who fish el dorado would come up to fish a tournament at wilson. Best thing I can tell you is advertise. Lots of flyers to hang up at all the local fishing stores. Not just local to you. Around every lake. I think the best 5 but a big bass pot wouldnt hurt. What club are you with?

Also post it on any of the boards that you can find on the internet, and put an addd in any local news papers,Email or call all other clubs that you know about within a few hrs.

Not sure about tournament fishing, but in Wisconsin, when we do fire Department raffles, we keep the first prize under $1000.  As far as I know we have to report any winnings from that amount on up.  This is Wisconsin, I don't know about other areas.  Just thought I would toss that out there.

$100 to enter and $1000 for the big bass IMO wont draw much of a crowd. one lucky cast wins while a seasoned guy puts four 3-4lbs. fish in the boat with a kicker goes home with gas money.

id also start talking with the guys on here who put a lot of tournays on for help if youve never done this before. you dont want your fund raiser to end up costing you your checking account.
