  1. That is definetly a grandebass rattlesnake. no questions. I will throw whichever one is cheaper on my wallet!!
  2. Does anyone know if you can order them or still find them online. I am trying to find any of the shows from the Sooner Run series from 06 and 07' at grand lake. got a couple tournaments there later this year and i am wanting to look over the footage. any help getting me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I would have to go with a swimbait. Relatively unknown and now a staple on the BASS circuit. Amistad, and kentucky lake were both won this year on swimbaits. And the popularity is still growing. just my opinion though
  4. I love to drop-shot and for me lure choice depends on whether you are fishing for smallies or largemouth. Also what kind of forage the fish are keyed on. Where i live in KS we usually target smallies for a limit and largemouth for kickers except in the spring. Shad is the mai forage along with crawfish. I personally use the GYCB Shad shaped worm in natural shad and green pumkin. I fish mine somewhat different then most to. Most anglers think drop shotting is for deep water but i throw it like a tube or jig. Throw it torward the bank and use the same lift drop technique and i won 5 of 12 club tournaments doing it. Also got 3 2nds and 2 3rds. Good luck to you.
  5. Hey guys! I am trying to gain an edge on fellow competitors by adding swimbaits to my arsenal. Problem is I live in KS and noone here i know of throws them. So i have no clue whether i should invest in them or not. We have good largemouth and smallmouth, with clear springtime water. Can you give me any tips on fishing them? Is the spawn the best, when they are on their beds? Thanks!
  6. doesnt look to bad to me!
  7. Not just the heat. the bass fishing as well. Our club had a tournament there this weekend and it was a good result. Friday we whacked the large and smallmouth on double buzzbaits early and late. The fish have moved off the cattails and sawgrass. Saturday I took first in the tournament with 12.83. several other bags went over the 11 lb mark. Going out I had heard the largemouth pop. was really down due to the white perch while the smallmouth bite was rockin. When I got there I found the opposite. The largemouth bite was rocking and the smallies must have went deep. All my fish came out of pockets with flooded trees. I was using a 4 in GYCB Shad shaped worm on a 6lb flourocarbon dropshot rig. And a lucky craft fat cb crankbait. The water is beautiful as always!
  8. I am president of the froggz bass culb in Junction City. I know of a club in alma, atchison, and leavenworth. let me know if i can help you get in with one of these clubs.
  9. Our club is planning on joining federation in july and I am going to head up memberships and such. Problem is I got on the BASS website and it really doesnt detail to much. For example it doesnt say how much it costs per angler. all of our members are bass subscribers so all we need to do is pay our federation dues right? I have heard rumors that once you join federation you get good deals from bass sponsors like a once a year 50% off a one time lowrance purchase? Any truth to these rumors. Anyone who has gone through this and is willing to shed some light i would be appreciative. -jesse
  10. I would have to say Jackall cover craws. rigged with a 1/16 ounce weight. these things are like crack for smallies. Anyone else been using them?
  11. I have really been getting into drop-shotting for smallies. Been catching alot of bass on 4" GYCB shad shaped worms and zoom swamp crawlers. Problem is I am having trouble cathing the size fish I catch using tubes or eakins jigs. However I do catch alot more and the occasional 3+. Am I using the wrong bait to catch the big girls? Anyone have any suggestions on other lures I should give a whirl??
  12. your husky jerk is a suspending jerkbait which means when you jerk it down and pause it, it stays at that depth without rising. The original rapala is made of balsa and is a floating jerkbait. First thing you should nderstand is that not all baits will go the depth they say they can achieve. 1-2 feet for an original rapala sounds pretty normal to me. The lighter line you fish with the deeper your lure will go. Also if you use a flourocarbon line you get more depth because it sinks whereas mono will tend to float. Also the 3-5 feet is based on a steady retrieve. So you may try to downsize line as much as you can get away with and make as long of casts as you can and with the right retrieve you should obtain max depth with the lure. As always good luck and dont be afraid to ask questions. None of us have it all figured out!
  13. Ray, it is oceans of fun somedays and worlds of fun others. Every day is different. Must be why I love it so much. we need to get together and fish someday. just let me know if your ever available. -Jesse p.s. I sold my boat so I am without a ride for the time being.
  14. Anyone on here fishing milford alot besides me? Been doing real good out there just wondering how many guys around the area get on here.
  15. What kind of jigging spoon do you use? The ice just thawed out up here in ks and I got some bluffs I would like to give a try. Any clue what the water temp was as well. Thanks!
  16. i think wilson would be the better lake. Even the guys I know who fish el dorado would come up to fish a tournament at wilson. Best thing I can tell you is advertise. Lots of flyers to hang up at all the local fishing stores. Not just local to you. Around every lake. I think the best 5 but a big bass pot wouldnt hurt. What club are you with?
  17. i was curious if any ks or NE guys have been fishing banner creek recently. I have a tourney there next sunday and i know its going to be tough. Any help would be good. Maybe you have fished it in Novermber before? If so where should I look and what should i try. -thanks jess
  18. i know there is a club in Leavenworth and i know of one in atchison. they fish at milford every year
  19. Same as a loomis glx????????????????????????? Do you have any data or proof to back that statement up ? The g-blanks are a nice cheap rod but I don't think they are in the same class as a G-loomis glx. JMHO. Larry Mitchell buys his blanks straight from Shimano and wraps them himself. since he buys in bulk he gets them at a cheap rate. When you buy a loomis mostly all you are buying is the brand name. Use a loomis and then put the same model of g-blank in your hand and you wont tell the difference. I have owned both and i sold my loomis's on ebay to buy twice as many gblanks.
  20. i use a 6'6 medium fast G-Blank Rod. They are custom made by a fella down in Oklahoma and they rock. They are the same as a G-Loomis GLX but the g-blanks are only 125. I know to some that sounds steep but its a super sweet rod for the money.
  21. couldnt find a good thread. so its mid july and its real hot here in ks. the water temp is climbing into the mid 80's and the fishing has not been the greatest to say the least. I am going to try night fising this weekend. Just hoping to get some advice. Should I fish the spots that I fish in the daytime? And should i use the same lures? I know everyone says to use black. The tubes I use during the day and green pumpkin and well thats mainly all we use besides a little dropshotting and c-riggin. so any help would be nice. do they take crankbaits at night? thanks for the help.
  22. i fish mostly smallies here in ks. I have been to minatare but not in years. might have to give it a try next time i am up there. september most likely. I just fished box butte in may and we caught a few there. didnt have a boat so it makes it tough. I bet minatare could be pretty good. let me know how the fishing goes up there
  23. my wifes parents live near scottsbluff and i have been looking for a good place to go when i am up that way. all i ever do is get stuck trout fishing. where in the panhandle are you?
  24. yeah she likes to fish. not nearly as much as me. i have to take her crappie fishing and stuff. she hasnt gotten the hand of using a tube or worm. wait til she catches a few. it will start to click. did some research looks like a pike and yellow perch lake mostly. so i may need alittle luck for these bass!
  25. dont know if anyone is thinking about fishing milford anytime soon but i just thought i would let you know the fish are going crazy. I have been out the last 2 days and caught more then 10 lake keepers per day and probably 50 fish a day. The smallies seem to be up on the beds while the largemouth have been kind of elusive. I did get a nice 24 incher though. she was FAT! most of my fish have been coming on a green pumpkin tube and a 4in. senko weightless. The bites have been coming in less than 5 ft. of water and throughout the lake. I have been north and south and it doesnt matter. Other then the bass I have managed to catch several nice crappie. 15-18 inchers. Also some d**n nice walleye. Caught 2 over 8lbs and several over 5lbs. All on my bass rigs. Anyways if ya come i am sure it will be a good time.
