Powerbait Hollow Belly

Got a few of these in this week.  My first impression was 'THESE THINGS STINK!'.  TheBeast bought some Bass Magic baits last weekend, I thought those stunk.  These Berkley baits smell just as bad, if not a bit worse.

It is a very strong acetate-type smell.  I thought these were supposed to be Powerbait scented.  Do the Basstrix stink like that?

They don't look bad, but they don't pass the smell test.  Going to have to soak them in Megastrike.

I found the same thing, with both the BassMagic and the Hollow Bellies. I think it's because they are so newly poured. These have just hit the market and I don't think either company wanted to waste any time in getting them out. They don't want to miss the paddle-tail craze going on. (My guess is the price will fall eventually).

I just left mine out for a couple weeks and the odor has dissipated. Stinks up the whole room though in the doing.

That's odd.  None of my Mission Fish stink, but these Hollow Bellies have been sitting, opened, in my man cave for the last couple of weeks and I can still smell them when I walk into the room.

The Reaction Strike Fatheads smell the same way.  I'm with ya on the megastrike for odor control.

i have the Luck E Strike Bass Magic and they stink to high heaven.  I'm gonna soak them in the sink or a bucket for while and then drench them in cb's hawgsauce and that should do it....I wont even bother using them this way at all.  I thought about even making "coffee baits" out of them by letting them sit in coffee grounds,  if it works on tubes-why not.......

They all smell bad like that.  I was really surprised that the Powerbait version probably had the worst smell.  There's just a hint of the powerbait smell under the nasty plastic smell. It reminds me of  someone with bad body odor that tries to hide it by spraying axe all over instead of taking a shower.

The smell does seem to go away after having them out of the package, but some Megastrike won't hurt.

I've had some plastics that had that nasty smell. About 20 seconds in the water wil get rid of it. No need to stink up the man cave with power bait trying to get rid of the smell.

Just make your first cast out into open water and not at your target.
