I usually wear jeans, but it gets way too hot and the tend to bunch up. I tried shorts but my waders tend to rub against my leg. Maybe I am just picky but I was hoping there would be some sort of solution. I just want to be comfortable while wading in the river all day.

swim trunks and an old pair of shoes 8-)  Thats how I always do it when the water is warm enough

Yeah I do that sometimes too. When the water is warm, its nice.

In the summer when the water is warm forget the waders. Swimsuit and muck boots is all you need.

Boxers or shorts if it is hot out.

The best thing I've found to wear under breathable waders when its warm/hot is Patagonia's Capilene 1 Bottoms Performance Baselayer. It is very thin, breathable, wicks moisture, and prevents chaffing.

I'm with burley on this one.  Shorts and a solid pair of shoes works fine.

Anything from Victoria's Secret works fine.  

I fish in some very mucky areas where I am hesitant to go w/o waders.  I've lost shoes in the mud before.  When I go there, I wear an old wetsuit that I got at a garage sale.  It has rigid soles so no sticks or glass poke through.  I cut off the sleeves and the neck because it got a little warm.  I was thinking about cutting off the torso altogether and just using them as pants...

You can always just use hipboots if your looking for a "pants" like waders.

Some of the parts of the river, aren't the cleanest. Thats why most of the times I don't like to just go in shorts.
