sunfish swimbait

-ebby-, if you are willing to put down $20 bones on a quality bait, you might want to consider the Jackall Giron: http://www.***.com/descpageSWMJACKALL-JG.html#

it LOOKS very nice, i have never used one, so i cant say from experience, but i can say that if i could suck it up and pay $20 for a lure, this would definitley be one of my top choices.

things i like about it are that its a hard swimbait (wont get destroyed after a couple fish) and it only weights 3/4oz...no need for a new rod!

its just a half ounce so it will work good on my baitcaster

I have never used the baby sunfish but if it casts anything like the baby crappie, you will be hating life.  I have one of the baby crappies and it just glides off any direction it choses when casting.  Plus the action leaves much to be desired.  If you aren't going to spend the money on one of Matt's baits I would go with this one.  http://www.316lurecompany.com/baits/bluegill.html

The 3:16 mission fish is like 12 bucks plus hardware

What hardware are you talking about?  Every mission fish I've bought came complete.

As someone stated before, check out mattlures baby bass and mattlures east coast yellow perch.  You can throw them on a rod rated up to an ounce just fine.  You probably see plenty of juvenile bass and perch mixed in with those sunnies, yum!

If you go to matt's sight and follow his advice on how to properly prepare your swimbait before throwing for the first time, it will greatly increase the longevity of your bait.  Also a bottle of mend it or pro soft bait glue is a must.

What is the fish of the trip, month, year, decade, lifetime worth to you?

does anyone know how the action and quality is on this bait? http://www.***.com/descpageSWMCASTAIC-CSBSBT.html# it comes in a 4 inch size for 6 bucks at cabelas it looks pretty nice and is cheap. but is the mattlures worth twice the price? the mattlures does look a little nicer :-/

Come on now ebby, are you worried about the price or the size (oz.) of the lure?  You are confusing me....

Even the 4" weighs over an ounce, which from what you said is too heavy for your equipment.

Get the Mattlures and be a happy, happy man   ;)

Here is the 6" in action. I haven't used it yet, but it looks nice and swims great. I'm not sure how it'll hold up to the pike, but plan on having some glue handy for repairs.

The 6" has some weight to it, but I don't think I'll have a problem throwing it on my 7' MH Techna AV, even though it's slightly over the rating.

that does look like it swims nice. im gonna order a one from cabelas when they get them in stock again ;) what type of glue is best?

and i relized that my baitcaster should handle an oz but im still not quite sure because it is in my camper a couple hundred miles away. and a lower price is always good! i have already spent alot trying to get through the winter and finding this site has cost me quite a bit more because of all the stuff i found ;D

Not meaning to hijack your thread but does anyone have anything good to say about Optimum Swimbaits?

I think for glue, there are two options that I know of.  One is called

Mend it, the other is Pro's Soft Glue.
