Anybody fish Lake Buchanan for Black Bass

Featured Replies

I am new to bass fishing and just bought a bass boat in February. I live close to Lake Buchanan and have been out a few times trying to find black bass with no luck. I guess they have finished spawning because they are not in any of the shallow water coves. Where do they go after the spawn and about how deep should I be looking for them? If anybody fishes this lake, I could really use your feedback.

I fish there but have not been since last year because of the water level and ramp availability. This lake has always fished shallow for me. This time of year I always throw a small shallow diving red crawfish pattern Bomber crankbait ,other good baits are black lizards  , senkos and grape worms pitched around shallow timber..logs etc...Also a black tiny torpedo topwater has been good to me also.Try Morgan Creek and it's multiple tributaries ,Apple Orchard,Silver Creek and Jeckers Cove.

Fish the creek and boat docks in the creeks on the upper NE side of the lake, this is were a lot of checks came from Honey Hole back in the 90's.

Most of the upper end when full has been silted from the river channel , bass seem to better fishing from mid lakes down.
