rockriver1
5 or 6 of my friends want to take a fishing trip this summer to ontario. We want to fish for smallies, pike, and walleye. Any body have any good suggestions on where to go ? Looking to keep in within a days drive from NE ohio. We are in our early 20s so nothing really expensive. Super User roadwarrior Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Share Posted December 16, 2008 Welcome aboard! I'll put a copy of this post in the International section for you, so check there, too. We have several Canadian members and some are from Ontario. 8-)
Skunked in DR
No matter what anyone tells you, there are absolutely no fish in Ontario. Near the Ontario/Manitoba/Minnesota border Rainy Lake just past the International Falls border crossing would fill your bill. Bit of a haul from Ohio, but you're young. Sorry don't know any lodges or guides though. Quetico is also nice, cheaper too, but you'll have to canoe camp and haul all your gear. On the other side of the province, and in my neck of the woods, I can recommend the K/O lodge in Deep River, Ontario. Definitely can go for smallies and eyes. Pike of any size you'd need to come in late May/early June.
