After the storm LMB w/pic

Featured Replies

Went fishing at about 5pm after the rain stopped and the sun came out...

I caught about 4 dinks with in 10 casts with mo yo-zuri jerkbait.

In the time frame I has missed 2 decent LMB with a 5in senko...

Both followed it close to shore but, only hit the tail end.

I was getting ready to leave and decided before I go home I should try a spot on the other side of the pond.

I took a cast with my senko down the shore line with and caught nothing.

I then cast the jerkbait out about 15ft in front of me and about  half way I got a smashing hit...

AND THIS IS WHAT I CAUGHT

Nice fish!

8-)

Look at the belly on that pig. Nice work. In my experiences, when they follow but are finicky and hit the rear like that, I'll slow or stop my retrieve and let the fish roll on it. It works with spinnerbaits too. But with spinnerbaits I'll slow retrieve, not stop. Were you using the 5" swiimming senko?

I tried the slower retrieve and had no luck.

So then I changed to a smaller senko after only a few casts and not catching any thing I put my 5" back on.

Wasn't a swimming senko

I was using the jerkbait much more because, that is what I was catching my fish on.

My rule of thumb when I miss a lot of fish/the fish are not taking the whole lure/bait...

Not in any specific order

Down size

Slow my retrieve

Change colors for example: If I am using a moss green I may change to a black and purple or white

Nice fish there  ;)

Have you found the fishing to be a little slower with this cold front? I've found that to be true on the ponds I've been fishing. When it was hot the fish were incredibly active, now they've slowed down a bit.

Off topic, but Tony,    trout stocking is in full swing in NH. I'll be eating trout this weekend.  ;D

Yeah bass fishing's been pretty slow. I actually didn't do my usual bass gig after work yesterday but headed to a river near where I work to go for some trout.  Water was really high and fast, but I managed a trout and my first smallie of the year, even though it was a dink  8-)

Can't wait for the 70 degree weather again.

And AJ - I'll be in NH this weekend, but no trout for me. I'm gonna try to get my smallie fix  ;D
