Oval split rings cont.

I bought some XPS #2 ovals.  I've been changing all of my lipless cranks over.  Have to say that the ovals are an absolute ***** to install.

These XPS rings aren't all that springy.  If you struggle a little too much, they bend permanently.  Ruined five of them before I figured out how to install them.

Hey Burley,

Just finished putting a diamond willow blade on a spinnerbait so I can feel your pain.

I totally destroyed the split ring but managed to crimp it togehter to hold the new blade.

Of course, I will not be surprise if the blade comes off when fishing.

I hate those split rings and the split ring pliers is a pain.

There has to be a better way.

Not sure how you ended up getting them on, but I find if you place the tooth of the plier on the opposite side from the split,  on the outside of the ring..... it is fairly simple.    I picked up some last weekend and changed a bunch of lures.  I didn't overbend any but I did have a few go flying into oblivion, never to be seen again.
