Raystown Lake

Featured Replies

I realize that I might just be repeating history here, but I am going to Raystown lake for the first time this weekend.  The main purpose is to break in my new motor on my boat.  However we would also like to wet some line while we are there, what I need to know is this.  Where are the best launches to put your boat in?  Also any good areas where we might do some bass fishing?  I have never been to this lake before and I know nothing about it or the area it is in.  Any advice/ information will be greatly appreciated.  Thank-you for all of your help.

H bay in james creek is a great boat launch.  This time of year If you're looking for spawners check out a few coves and points, some of the smallies spawn in deeper water near drop offs but thats a gamble if you want to try it.  Good luck though!  I don't fish there much this time of year but if I was going thats what I'd do, theres a great cove right across from james creek called trough run if you want to start there.  But since you're already breaking your motor in try hittin up the river where it runs into the top of raystown, they might be there along the weed edges or maybe even in the weeds on the right side of the creek

I was out on Raystown this weekend... Didn't catch beans for bass, but did catch a few decent lake trout. One thing about Raystown, you never know what you are gonna catch! It is a tough lake to fish in my opinion, but when you hit it right, it rewards you well!

And I gave you my map to use. What's up with that?????  ;D

You know I had to razz ya! LOL!

Did you get the motor broke in? How did it run? How did you make out fishing? Details!! We want details Man! LOL!

Thank-you for the map.  The motor worked very well, I had the boat up to 45mph at a little over 1/2 throttle.  Did not run it full out yet to much crap in the water for that.  We caught 8 or 9 bass total, jake has pics is supposed to be posting them here as some point.  Gas gauge does not work right, will need to be fixed.  Other than that I am very pleased with the boat and the performance.  Water got pretty rough later in the afternoon the boat handled those pretty well too.  To bad basser could not come along, I'm sure he has forgotten what it is like to ride in a boat with a motor on it.
