Hey guys. About to buy a boat and lookin for input on first lake to take her to. I live in Indianapolis but am willing to go just about anywhere.

Haven't been fishin much over the last few years, kids and little league eatin up time.  Just got a jon boat to get away from the banks.

Best bass fishin around Indy is probably up at Geist.  Supposed to be decent at Eagle Creek.  Lake Monroe and Patoka are probably the best two lakes in the state.

What kinda boat are you buying, and what are you lookin to catch?  Bass, smallies, blue gill, cats????

Buddy and I a going to get a tracker aluminum boat prob the 17' variety. Def fishing for bass. ALL BASS

17ft tracker, I assume 50horse merc or thereabouts.  Anyway, if your in indy, the river is always good, but you better go with someone that knows it first.  Every wed night is a tourny at Broadripple park from 4:30 til dark.

Morse is a good mid summer to fall lake and they have been catchin smallies out of it.

Geist is well, geist.  It is a great lake for bass.

Eagle creek is awsome if you know where to go, if not it can be brutal.  They only allow 9.9 horse on eagle creek.

Patoka is ok and monroe is ok, but gas prices to get there from indy SUCK!

Freeman and shafer are good largies and smallies.

Glenn flint sucks!

Racoon is loaded with 14inchers on a 15 inch lake.

Waveland Rocks!  You will limit out easily!  Loaded with 15 inchers and smaller.  Not very many bigguns in there.

Kokomo reservior is so so.

Lemon is a great spring lake for some hawgs!

Sounds like we need a tour of Eagle Creek with Pont.

I've tried Eagle Creek for two days this week, without a single bite.

Moved over to broad ripple yesterday after lunch and caught smallies on tubes.

The tourny guys were puttin in as I was pullin out.  Fished that once or twice back when my brother had his Nitro a few years ago.

geist resevoir is close and is full of bass.  The only downfall is the launch fees.  If you go early on the weekends and leave by 11, I think its only 10 bucks or so.

Yep Geist on the weekends is a 28 dollar launch fee, but 12 bucks during the week or if you are off the water by 11am.  You will still have to pay the full amount up front and then get a refund.  Blah!  It sucks, but man is it a fish factory!

Morse is the same way with launch fees.

Do not go to these lakes on the weekend if you are in a small baot!!!  You will sink due to pleasure boaters.

Hey deadeye, how are you doing fishing with Greenfield bassmasters this year?

Very nice summary Pont, and pretty much dead on. Quality on Waveland has picked up a bit this year though. Lots of fish to 16", with a 17"-18" big fish or two each trip. I'm not sure any other lake in the state can touch it for numbers of keepers right now.  8-)

Still not sure what happened to Flint  :-/ That lake rocked 3 years ago. Last two have sucked and this year isn't looking much better.

yeah pont that summary is good, however I have been disapointed at Raccoon the last few outings, but absolutely love Patoka.

Thanks for asking about the club, I am currently sitting 6th in the standings and am learning a ton my first year.  They are quality bunch of guys too.  I am fishing Hardy next week and have pre-fished it a few times already, so I am getting pumped about this one.  I will let you guys know how it goes.

I'd like to get to know the river up at Broad Ripple a little better.  Caught a nice smallie up near the bridge.

For first timers, you gotta watch for shallow water in spots.  Don't know if anyone has a map of the area with shallow areas marked.

Pont what do you know about Kokomo?  I cant get you up here to fish it with me!! LOL  I guess he know what he is talking about

Any suggestions for Geist?

I'm not a tourney guy anymore, but I do remember fishing on Giest with my former club a few years ago.  I was a back-seater, so I'd have no clue now where to steer my lil tin can.

I'd like to get out on a weekday sometime and have some decent places to start.
