Indiana - Anyone from Southern Indiana

Featured Replies

Anyone from southern indiana?

Any recommendations for good places to fish in these parts?

I'm not from there... but.. close enough to have heard something about the fishing.   Guys generally fish the Ohio River, Patoka Lake, and Monroe Lake.   Course if you're in Evansville you're less than 2 hours away from Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley and they are some fine fishing.

Ohio river is all I've fished in Indiana, lots of good creeks off the river, its one of the better poles on the river. I've heard there are some good lakes. Look where the BfL and weekend series fish in your area it'll give you some ideas.

I have lived in Indiana my whole life, fished since I was a tot on Dads boat,And have to say my top 5 are

1.Monroe-spring,fall

2.Raccoon-summer evening topwater=KILLER

3.Cataract-great camping, and lots of big bluegill

4.Glenn Flint-all year

5.Turtle Creek-winter(this is a cooling lake for Merom generating station, they grow all year long)

If you search the INDNR site it will give maps to all. These are just a few i frequent.

S ;)outhern indiana here dogwood lake is my home lake . Boggs is close too.

Dad24,

Glenn Flint does have some nice fish, but it has been tough as of late due to the killing of all the grass.  I just seem to always struggle there.  Also  along with Flint and Raccoon, Waveland is loaded with bass.  It's nothing to catch 30-40 1.5lb-2.0lb bass all day long.

Deadeye32,

You are absolutely right,I also have had great luck there,Especially the hump near the beach....Ever fish it?

Or how about Lake Lemon.

I'm probobly going to fish geist this Saturday.  I'll let you know how their biting.
