  1. Tragedy is probably not powerful enough of a word to describe that incident. I would have to say horrifying would fit the bill as well. Pertaining to your questions... Nope, not PFD here. Extra care and diligence in knowing the physical surroundings. Proper footwear is a must. Reccomendations.. don't underestimate that the world we live in is a dangerous place. Human beings are fragile and we, as humans, sometimes forget that. Scout you're fishing areas.. test footing... be mindful of the weather, don't carry too much gear for the area you intend to fish...etc etc etc.
  2. sounds like you had a good time fishing and helped a tourney that brings money in for a good cause... sounds like a darn good day to me. ;D
  3. First and foremost... enjoy every minute of it good luck!!!
  4. I'm not from there... but.. close enough to have heard something about the fishing. Guys generally fish the Ohio River, Patoka Lake, and Monroe Lake. Course if you're in Evansville you're less than 2 hours away from Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley and they are some fine fishing.
  5. I wouldn't base a fishing trip by lunar charts... however I can't disprove the correlative values associated with solunar tables. The only absolute I know is that I can't catch fish without a line in the water.
  6. checked out some of the clearance page... sometimes I just have to shake my head. there's a lot of regular prices on there... so much for "clearance"
  7. haven't kissed one yet... unlikely, but I wont say never
  8. I'm predominantly catch and release... I don't have any issue with harvesting when done within the guidlines set by the state's fish creel and size limits. Rmbr to always check your state's guidelines, many lakes and/or areas can differ.
  9. loved the vid... from the fishing pattern being "in the water" to the three tap theory... just cracked me up.
  10. I am primarily a Gamakatsu hook person, but I've purchased some eagle claws... have to agree on the rust... but I had two break at the apex(or should I say minimum point) of the bend.
  11. I've never seen a difference... go with whats cheaper and if you love the red.. there's always paiting them yourself.
