Christmas in RI- What it's all about

Featured Replies

This is a shout out to any of the SE New England folks.  I'm looking for stuff to give away to some of the kids at Hasbro Children's Hospital on Christmas Eve.  Michelle and I have a small tradition of giving back on Xmas Eve and this yr, we will be bringing some of the extra gear from the CAST events and some other stuff we have acquired throughout the year to Providence for the kids to enjoy.  No child should be in a hospital on Xmas eve, the least we can do is deliver them a smile.

We have rods/reels, tackle boxes, and tackle from Strike King and ***

If you have any toys or fishing gear or anything NEW that you think a kid would be pumped to receive, please shoot me a PM.

Anyone interested in hopping on board for the rally or who wants to come with us on Xmas Eve is welcome to.

Thanks

Very nice. One year i brought a bunch of starting line up figures to hasbro childrens. I was kind of surprised when i called, they couldnt tell me who I should talk to or where to bring the toys.

Dude I'm all over that.  I will be up there around that time.

Shoot me a pm on some stuff I should buy.

I've worked with the community director down there a few times in regards to CAST For Kids stuff.  I spoke to her last night and they can only take new stuff, for sanitary reasons and she informed me that we won't be able to actually give the gifts out, too many sick kids and security issues to have a group wandering the hospital like that.  She said she has a program to dispense the gifts people bring and that our  stuff will be greatly appreciated so........

RALLY ;)

Ryan, don't buy anything , not necessary, just come.  PM me with your travel itinerary.

UPDATE:

Mary called me again today and was very excited.  She said she thinks she may have found a better fit for the goodies.

The RI Cancer Society has a camp, it's called Camp Hope.

Each year they have a fishing derby (Actually located at Camp Aldersgate in N Scituate).  We are going to donate a series of rods to the camp to keep for the derby and some others along with the *** and Strike King tackle, to give away as prizes at the derby.

Now, another note.   Wayne (SpeedBead),  has secured us a $250 donation from his employer, Wal-Mart!!!!!  I'd like to also see this money used to help out Camp Hope.  I'm not sure as I haven't even talked to the Camp Director yet, of how the whole camp works but I'm sure we'll find a fishy way to use the $$.

THANKS WAYNE!!!!!

I am going to also offer volunteers for the day so anyone who wants to come pitch in is welcome.  I'll post details when I have them ;)

Russ, how many kids will be in the fishing derby.  I can pour a mixed bag of plastics for each one.

Since they will now be going to the fishing derby, does this mean you can use some used stuff too?

I have a garbage bag filled from top to bottom w/new and used soft plastics and hard baits. Let me know what they can use or what I can donate.

Sign me up for volunteering as well!

Nice work Russ!
