Any good bassin near Clarksville Indiana?

Featured Replies

Well I am not entirely familiar with the area but I'll let you know of the areas I have been.   The Hoosier national forest down I64 to the west has several good lakes and if you want to drive a little further you can fish "Rocky Point", which is a bay/creek off of the Ohio River in Cannelton, IN.  I imagine there are several creeks along the Ohio River near you though that may contain good fishing, just drive out onto the river and go up and creek and start fishing.  There are also a few lakes to the north near Scottsburg such as Hardy lake that are decent as well.  Patoka is also a very good lake and within a good distance for a weekend day of fishing.

Hey Strike King, did you pick Clarksville for a reason? Is it because of the BPS there?

no its because my brother lives there and we dont get many chances to fish together so i wanna take my boat down a couple times this year to fish with him.

Tommybass thanks for the info, i'll have to do some research to find where those places are.

That's cool! There is some decent fishing in the Madison pool of the Ohio River. Little closer than Cannelton and Rocky Point. Patoka is worth the drive. Few years ago it took 24# for 5 fish to win a tourny. Don't know too much about Hardy. I do have a lake map of it and it definatley has potential. If your interested I might be able to email you the maps of Hardy.

thanks guys..

im kinda swaying towards going to the river. my brother only lives like 2 exits from the Falls of Ohio.  maybe we can have a lil luck with some bass, catfish, or maybe striper.... im hoping anyway!!

I would get on google earth and check out some of the tributaries that are close to you guys on the ohio.  There are a ton of launches that you can find.  I would strongly suggest getting a Kentucky and/or Ohio fishing license as well so you are not limited to your water/tributaries.

However, if you guys ever decide to make a trip to Patoka or Hardy, you might just consider heading the "same" distance and go to Cumberland in Kentucky.  If the smallies or largmouth ain't bighting, you can try for stripers or even hit the river for some of the best trout fishing you'll ever find.  Trout fishing the cumberland river is like picking blue gill off the beds down there.  Only thing you need is a hook, bober, weight and berkely dough/trout bait.  It's that pasty stuff in a little jar.

Just food for thought.

It is in IN. North/west of clarksville. Out interstate 64 west to 37 turn north. Probably 35 miles. Awesome lake!

Yep! It is half idle and half open speed. Great fishery. Took 24 lb for 5 fish in a tourny not to long ago.
