Frogs are definately effective on small lakes!! I've found they work just about anywhere.  I like throwing them in the nastiest stuff I think a bass could live in..... also weeds, lilly pads, brush piles.  I also work them in open water every now and then.  I throw them pretty much all summer.  Recommendation: Spro--best frog on the market

I don't know if you mean the hollow-bodied frogs or the buzzing type, but it doesn't matter. I've frequently fished water ranging from about 5-40,000 acres and the same lures work in small water that work in large water and vice versa. Choose lures based on the many conditions you're faced with, not how many acres the water covers.

Thanks for the advice! When would recommend to start throwing it (what time of year)? BTW The Bass Pro (by me at least) has a sale on the Spro Frogs right now.

i fish frogs everywhere starting in the spring..anywhere by logs laydowns,weeds,pads,standing brush,also i havent seen many people do this but you can skip holly body frogs (spro,scum frog) or plastic frogs like horny toads manns hardnose frogs under docks and have awesome days.

The SPRO is good but I like to throw the Zoom Horny Toad or Stanley Ribbit before I throw the SPRO.  I like to throw them on mats of vegetation, lilly pads and around stickups.  They work great over hydrilla beds.  I had most of my success with them in the middle of spring all the way through the summer.

wasnt impressed at all with the Spro, waste of money IMHO

I love Manns swimmin frog for Horny Toad style frogs, as for hollow body frogs I dont use them much but I caught a few with snag proof once.

i use scum frogs alot, but i did just pick up a spro and a furbit to try out

I've had so much fun this past year with frogs I can't wait till the temp rise just a bit.

I like the Rage Tail Toads, they have awesome action and right themselves if they land upside down. Have been using them since Fall last year and the fish hammer'em.

Also take a look at the river2sea frog, similar to a spro but 5.99 at cabelas all the time. Also has a nice groove on the bottom to give it nice action on open water fished like a top water.

The size of the lake  wont effect  whether the frog works or not. What I do is the most simple approach ill throw a frog where i think frogs are present like muck or lilly pads things like that. The best place to throw a frog is the smallest bodies of water actually (ponds)

Gettin that time aint it? Think I have 50 lbs of frogs just waiting to take a ride. More fun than Six Flags.
