Will the spawn in Rhode Island (any maybe all NE) be screwed up again this year!!

Featured Replies

Hey all.....

With the continued sucky weather, I feel the spawn will again be screwed up this year as it was last year. Is anyone seeing differently in the NE area?? In my local pond, the fish are in different staging areas and then when a cold front comes through, the go deep again. No beds to be seen as of yet. Let's have some pre-spawn reports fishing dudes!!!! :)

Yea, I think it will be screwed up. I just caught a 6.5 lb LM bass on Sunday, and it was packed full of eggs. The water temp is 45 degrees, not seeing any beds. It just all seems off.

last year was messed up

cold weather would roll in and the bass would split over and over

only time will tell

We might spawn by June if we're lucky. I cannot even describe how tired I am of being cold. Records from last year indicate a few days of mid 70 air temps already. Enough of this North wind please.

They are shallow already unlike last year and there is still another month until the next full moon so who knows.

I thought the fishing was good early last year. The weather changes had the fish coming up in stages and kept them in certain areas and not so scattered.Tin is right saying the fish are up,fished last Fri afternoon and 4pm to 7 Easter Sunday and all but 2 fish came in less than 2' of water.Tomorrow after work should be good.

Buddy and I finished second on Saturday in a T. With the exception of our big fish all of the others (20-25 with about 10 being keepers) came out of pockets on the main lake. They just had to be tucked off the main lake with about 2-4' of water. We pulled fish out of all 5 that we fished and the ones that had the wind pushing in we could make 8 casts and catch 6 fish so they were really stacked up. In these pockets on the southern end of the lake the water was 51-53 starting the day and the ones in the northern end were 49-51 (figure that out :-?). But the cold 37* degree rain dropped the water 2-3 degrees by the end of the day.

Also by looking at the weather for the next week we have a typical warming trend but the cold mornings will keep the bite mostly in the afternoon imo. Where as when we have cloud cover at night or rain the fish will bite throughout the day.
