Winni Launch Recommendations...

Featured Replies

I will be camping up near the wolfboro area of NH in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone could help me with a good launch location on Winnipesaukee.  I am looking to launch out of either Wolfboro (preferred) or Alton and would like a place where I could park on site, but it isn't an absolute must I can drop my trailer off if there is a place for it a short distance away.  I own an 18 foot aluminum bass tracker.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The parking at back bay in Wolfboro is very tricky and the tickets are expensive  >:D So you will need to get there very early and even then there may not be room as there is a lot of cars parked overnight that live on the Winni Islands. The launch in Alton is about a 1/2 mile from where you will need to park your trailer on the letter S road. There is another free launch at the Libby Museum that will dump you into winter harbor. It is on 109 and parking is behind the Museum and very limited, again very early to fill up. If that is full you can continue on and use the Lees Mills launch which has good parking  and a great part of the lake for a smaller boat. There are numerous pay launches around the lake at the marinas. Expect to pay $20 I am a cheap SOB so I have listed the free stuff for you.

Lake Wentworth is right there in Wolfboro and I have heard that can be very good too. I do not know about the access but do Know that USA Bassn held there regional there last year so must be fairly good.

Thanks for the info I don't mind paying for a launch or two during the time I am staying. I however am for the most part a cheap SOB also just ask my girlfriend lol. Anyways...Is the Alton Bay launch pretty easily accessible? Is there parking for vehicles without a trailer on site? Was thinking I could drop my trailer off lock it down up the street then drive back to the launch and park my Jeep.  Is the parking area on Letter S road easy to miss? thanks again for any help I want have a plan before I head up there so im not running around in the morning losing  fishing time.

I Have never used the letter s parking. As I recall you can see it from the road. I think there is signs but I would definitely scout it out ahead and not rely on what I have said. There is some short term dock space to leave your boat while you mess with the trailer and some parking, again depending on time of day and day of week. I am not sure if you can park all day or if there is a time limit. If that doesn't work; West Alton Marine down the road from there located just outside of the bay itself. It has a nice launch and parking for $20

I have narrowed it down to either Alton Public, Downings Landing or the one in Wolfboro in the back bay off railroad street shouldn't have a problem with the bridge seeing as im in a low profile boat as long as there is parking.
