Yatesvill, KY

Featured Replies

I am planning on going out to Yatesville lake in Ky on sunday and was going to see if anyone has been going out there yet this year?

I have not fished Yatesville this year but I did drive by the lake this past weekend. I live about 12 miles from the marina so I fish this lake quite a bit. The lake is down to winter pool, of course, and the water at the marina was very muddy. I suspect some pretty good water could be found in the heads of the creeks since we haven't had any rain or heavy runoff for a couple of weeks. Just be careful with the water drawn down, especially if you fish above San Branch. I am sure the water temps are really low as well but with the sunshine they are predicting and the stain in the water that should improve each day.

Well we went out there for about an hour sunday and it was froze over and we ended up leaving and did some fishing on a river closer to the house.

My experience with Yatesville is it is very tough to fish before April 1. On that date they start catching water to raise it to summer pool. All the locals say the best fishing on this lake occurs when the water is rising. Give it three more weeks and things will really start to improve.
