i was out today on January 7th and the temperture was 68 degrees.  i thought this would be a great time to fish because the water temp would be higher and they would be more active.  But i didnt get a bite.  I tried jigs, plastics, jerk baits, swim baits, spinner baits, and nothing worked.  i tried different colors and different techniques.  i fished very slow, medium,and fast, but nothing.  i used regular jigs with craw trailers, texas rigs with worms/ yum hawgtails, different colors/ tons of different swim baits and spinnerbaits with different trailers. and i ended up with nothing.  The water was really clear.

Any tips on lures or techniques. pleez reply.

Need to know a lot more were you were fishing how big a lake largies/smallies ect.

I don't know where you are, but I was out a couple of times this week in 60° weather, but the water was still 38°. Fishing from shore, I didn't get a touch.

Where are you located ?

Try finesse fishing, such as shaky head and drop shotting.

Make sure your baits are scaled down and you are using light line, such as 6 to 8 pound fluorocarbone, like Vanish, on a light spinning set up.

Let the bait sit there for up to five minutes, lightly twitching or moving it.

You may want to "doodle" the set up by using a brass sinker with a 8 mm black glass bead between the sinker and hook to give the bait some noise.

And don't forget your scents.

And be patient.  Bites are few and far between if the bass are inactive.

part of fishing is not catching anything. personally, in these conditions, i would be surprised if i did catch something. i recommend senko's, light (!) jigs, and white spinnerbaits with white trailers if you have some. why white? simply because i catch alot more fish when it's cold on a white spinnerbait then i do on a green, or red one.
