Here is the first bass of the year. A whopper at that, But at least it something. I did lose a nice one over 2 pounds I got him close (spit the hook out >;)), But did not touch him so it don't count. Very tough fishing so far. Bass was caught in a Jig with a crawfish trailer.

First one of the year!  Must feel awesome to get that one out of the way.  If it makes you feel any better, I broke one off at the side of the boat the other day that would most likely have pushed 3+.  The line snapped just as I was reaching down to lip it.  That sound is heart breaking.

Yes it does. The bite is very tough this though, Well for me anyway.I'm just happy I caught a bass. Hopefully the fishing picks up soon.

Water temps in the setbacks of the CT River in Hinsdale are anywhere from 49-56. I caught 8 largemouth in a couple hours last night plus a few pickerel. 7 came in water from 54-56 and 1 came in 51 degree water. All the fish were up shallow holding on laydowns in 3-9 FOW with the bulk of the fish holding in 4-6 feet. Caught all of them on a spinnerbait. Many fish hit after a 5 or so second pause.

Hello every im new to this forum, but have stopped by a few times to check out what kind of luck everyone else is having in the area. I tend to fish behind the highschool in Mill Pond. Well whenever I get a chance that is. On Monday I pulled out a small pike roughlt 1 1/2 pounds on a rooster tail. As my username shows i'm a trout fisherman mainly, but will fish for anything that swims generally. After that around dusk i threw on a jitterbig and had 1 on for a few seconds which shook off. Seemed to be a nice size, but could tell if it was a large bass or another pike.

The wife and I have only been to mill pond once, last year, and it was so choked with veggies that we could barely maneuver our boat around. Is it better now?

Yes, but not for long. Milfoil will be heavy again soon.

On Monday I pulled out a small pike roughlt 1 1/2 pounds

not sure if there are any pike in nh, but i here there are large pickeral in mill pond. got my pb in my avatar from mill pond. my father-in-law saw a nice one taken out of the canal last week.

Arrived at Turee today just in time for a wind storm. No rain but it was howling.Elected not to put in the row boat but fished from the boat ramp with a small spinnerbait.Caught a 12 in. LMB right in the middle of the storm.Around 6pm the wind abated enough to put in the boat.Went directly to an area that was somewhat protected and fished the spinnerbait. Caught another 12in. LMB and then switched to a Stanley itzabug t-rigged with a small bullet weight and a plastic bead.Caught a chunky 16 in.LMB that fought as hard as any LMB I've ever had the pleasure of hooking.Of the 13 LMB I've caught at Turee this year 1 has been on a 4 in. wacky-rigged Senko,2 on a small spinnerbait, and 10 on the Stanley itzabug. All the LMB have been caught within 5-10 ft. of the shoreline.

Where is that? MA,NH?

Turee Pond is in Bow, NH, right behind Bow High School

Ok.Just got confused he said rain. It was sunny and high 80's today

Very windy.No rain.

Got out yesterday for a couple hours with a buddy and managed 8 total.  The only thing they would hit was a white on white spinnerbait with silver blades.  The slightest change in color or size - nothing.  They were all up tight to cover within 10-15 feet of the shore.  You really had to tuck it in to get a strike.  Hope everyone else was able to get out for a bit to enjoy the weather yesterday.

Nice job Sausage.I see that your fish are also hugging the shoreline. This is for unhbass. Do you live near Bow? If you are interested give me a call 774-5023 and I can meet you at Turee pond.I'll show you the areas of the pond that have been producing.Heck I've even got some Stanley itzabugs that you can have!

Thanks..I would like to try that. I am in Nashua, But thats only about 35 mins away. What days do you usually like fish? I can usually go any mornings after 9:30am or weekends... Let me know. Again Thanks for the invite.  Derek

Hey guys just checking in for the start of a great fishing yr. Hoping to top my big boy of last year and produce some nice catches.

Fished for a few hrs over the weekend with a few small bites. Tried stick baits, ika's, senko's, topwater but nothing. What is everyone finding this time of the year to be productive ?

Jigs with a craw trailer or a slow rolling small spinner bait for me. Some are having great luck, but me on the other hand have only caught one small bass. I need some warmer water. I usually am not a good cold water fisherman.LOL

Unhbass37. Thanks for the prompt response. How about next Tues. the 13th around 430 pm? I will bring my small aluminum boat which we will need to access some of the shoreline where I've had some luck. Plenty of room in the boat for two but bring a life jacket if you have one. I'll be out of town this weekend but call me 774-5023 when you  have a moment.    Eugene

I can't do that day. I can usually ony fish in the AM  till about 1pm during the week or weekends. Friday is usually my best day to go. Let me know if you are able to fish those times and hopefully we can work it out. Thanks.

Looks like weekends will be our best bet.I'll keep an eye on the weather forcast.Turee is no fun to fish in  heavy winds and has been at its best in mid- afternoon after the sun has had a chanch to warm the shoreline.I'll contact you when the conditions look to be favorable for an upcoming weekend.
