How's the fishing out there in middle of February?  What do you guys normally use out there at this time?  What is the weather like?  I'm going with Mike Gerry as my guide out there.

We had a tourny there last year first weekend of March and crankbaits ruled the day,  discontinued Bill Dance Fat Free shad was the winner.

Do I have my goals set too high if I'm expecting to catch at least 1 5lber?

No, even though you might be a little early, a few 5 lb bass is a very realistic goal. If you hire a guide, I'm sure you will do MUCH better, definitely in terms of numbers and perhaps, in terms of size. This is a huge lake and the numbers of "fishy spots" are overwhelming.

Mike is a super guy, and a good guide. He will put you on fish, and show you what bait to use. All you gotta do is show up! G-Ville is noted for its great fishing. I live about 15 minutes off the lake, and in the summer, I practically live there. Enjoy some of the best LMB fishing in the south!
