Lake Toho

Featured Replies

I'm going to Toho next week, for the first time.  Has anyone fished there recently that could tell me what the bass are doing. Are they still spawning? Or is it over, maybe a place to start. Also how about a good ramp location. Thanks.

Greetings, the spawn is still going on,roughly from Jan-April.This week the wind is howling,20-25 gusting to over 35.Which means the water will be dirty. You have a choice of 2 public ramps:101 Lakeshore Blvd,in downtown Kissimmee on the north side where FLW and B.A.S.S take off.

Think it has 6 double ramps. On the south end,(called Southport) you have 3 double ramps. So depending where you want to go North or South, you have a ramp close by.As for where to start check out "theledger.com" under sports-outdoors you'll find a section called "fishing around Polk county"this;ll tell you where, outside grassline etc.

I would start in Goblets Cove in the very eastern end in the pads that are 3-4 ft deep.  Mixed in there are small patches of kissimmee grass and submerged hydrilla.  Use a frog or a non weighted stick worm in black/blue flake.  My non boater and I pulled 14 lbs out of there after lunch 2 weeks ago.

I also pulled a few off of Browns Point with the black/bl flk worm.  Look for areas where the vegetation is mixed or changing.  I would start where the pencil reeds meet the kissimee grass.

There was a recent article in bassmaster that said 50% of fish spawn at peak time.  The rest are pre or post and some skip it.

And peak occurs at different times on each part of the lake.
