great peacock session

Featured Replies

i found a sick lake that is LOADED with bedding peacocks. there are 3 or 4 huge males on each bed. every photo is a different fish. i caught a couple of females by accident ( they would come out of nowhere and slam my bait). i was targeting the males and they were super aggressive. caught about 20 or so, all of them were the same size, around 3 to 4 pounds. this is without a doubt the best peacock lake i have ever found. enjoy the pics.

Nice! I'm not even sure if there were any Peacocks in South Florida when I was down there back in '92 and '93.  :-[

Great job Boca, nice fish!  I may try my "secret spot" this week if I have time. If they are bedding then I am bound to catch them, not 20 though, most I ever caught were in the low teens.

These are great. This also looks like a nice calm pond with little pressure. How do you guys go about finding those? I can find a couple of residential ponds on Googlemaps but how do I know if they're fishable?!

Did the same thing you did, google map drive around and explore.  You'll find out quickly which lakes are fishable and don't be afraid to ask owners before you trespass, most will let you fish without question especially if you catch and release. S. Florida looks like swiss cheese from above so there are plenty of honey holes around.

the thing you have to remember is to be polite. and also note that EVERY residential area that is on a body of water, their property line ends well before the waterline. so technically they can't kick you off because you are in what is called an easement. the homeowners can still call the police and what not, but if you are polite, most will let you stay. that particular lake i had to be extremely careful becaus i didn't want anyone seeing me catch those fish because before you know it they will all be out there catching them and eating them. it has happened more than once for me and it really sucks seeing a lake go from loaded with fish to empty.

Yea I can understand. I'm not interested in keeping any fish but I am definitely not interested in getting spotted for any particular reason. Thanks for the tip.

True, as long as you don't trespass to grt to the waters edge.  Like walking through their yard.
