  1. Cool thanks, I've only caught small ones so I'll keep at it, anything over 4lbs sweet. I'll try to make it out there as well. Last question, is there any particular side of the lake and time of day I should target? Mostly did saltwater in florida so I'm still learning lake fishing. Thnx.
  2. VAHunter, thanks a lot for the tips, I actually have access to the lake so I'm able to fish it during the construction, since I'm new around here and the lake is right there I'm going to try to focus there. I've noted the shallow depths on my fishfinder, thanks for the hints on the lures and techniques, I'll be sure to try them out (hopefully as soon as this weekend). I did spook a few last time I went and they looked pretty massive from the swirl, and I thought it was too shallow for anything to be in there. I'll try this out and will keep you posted, thanks again for the tips after 4-5 trips this year with 2 bass to show for it I was getting a little discouraged. Thanks.
  3. Hey, I know this topic is a little old but have you fished there lately. Recently moved here and trying to get the hang of that lake, catching small ones and rarely, but I know they're there. Thanks.
  4. Great thanks I was thinking of trying that area. I am boatless too. I will also check out the miami lakes area. If you ever come down and wanna do some brakish snook fishing let me know. Thanks.
  5. Planning on taking my father in law for some fishing, loves it but lately hasn't been able to as life has played a couple tricks on him. I was looking for some ideas regarding ponds/lakes/canals around Miami but anywhere within a 45m radius where I'd have a good chance of getting him some good bass. If you want to PM I have some snook / peacock spots I'll have no problem trading for this. Thanks a lot guys.
  6. I thought I'd follow this up with a report, overall completely fruitless week-end in terms of fishing. Day 1) East Lake Toho (7am-11h30am) Spinner Baits: NO bites Worms (red.black laminate, green pumpkin) 2 Bites Crank Baits (lipless): NO bites Day 2) Turkey Lake (7am-11am) Crank baits (baby bass, silver and blue): NO Bites Worms (green pumpkin, black/blue): 4 Bites, no catch Buzz Bait: Deep Crank (red crawfish): No bites Thanks for everyone's help. Overall the best best for anyone not familiar to Orlando would be to check out Orlando's "Fish Orlando" initiative
  7. OK great. What's my best bet up there, finesse worms, spinner baits, frogs? I'm thinking going with finesse works and trying spinner baits in case I see fallen trees and stuff, but googlemapping I see a lot of weeds and vegetation, which seems to imply that frogs might be a good idea (never used them). Thanks for the advice.
  8. Great thanks, this looks great. The prices are very reasonable but I wanted to fish with finesse worms as opposed to live bait, do you think that'll be too difficult if everyone there fishes with live bait? Thanks.
  9. I am heading to Orlando in 2 weeks (around the disney area) for a weekend with the father-in-law and would like to spend all of saturday bass fishing. I was wondering if some of you experts and locals could point me towards a lake (from what I've researched Toho) we could go to, what areas on the lakes we should look for, etc. If we can rent a boat that'd work too, we just want to have a good time and catch a couple of decent size bass. Thanks!
  10. SE_FL_BassAddict was nice enough to take me out on Sunday and show me the Peacock Bass ropes. We started with topwater and Xraps, finished-off with Rat-L Taps which ended up bringing in most of the loot. Started out slow with a cloudy sky, but once the sun hit we found a nice nest and couple a bunch there. Total: 3 Peacocks (all neighboring 2lb) and 1 LM (I am responsible for 1, and losing 2). Thanks SE_FL_BassAddict!!
  11. Searching for information about "Senkos", turns our we have a lot of rich threads covering colors, uses etc...
  12. Pumpkin, Black w/t Blue Flakes.
  13. Went for the first time last weekend with SE_FL_BassAddict on Rattle traps, and X-rap (both silver with blue backs, and one orange Ratl-Trap) and we caught them all by casting past their nests and retrieving over them. Interestingly when the lures were slow and straight, they showed no interest, but a little faster and erratic and it was on (bocabasser is right on).
  14. The most detailed one I've seen is Microsoft's: local.live.com, on the "Bird's Eye View" where available. Then you can rotate and do a lot of cool stuff.
  15. Yea I can understand. I'm not interested in keeping any fish but I am definitely not interested in getting spotted for any particular reason. Thanks for the tip.
  16. These are great. This also looks like a nice calm pond with little pressure. How do you guys go about finding those? I can find a couple of residential ponds on Googlemaps but how do I know if they're fishable?!
  17. I am reassured. These are just people walking around the lake and fishing with no particular tools (underwater camera or gps finder). I thought I was missing something. The guys walking around the bank looking for fish, determining whether or not they would stick around really got to me. Glad to see this isn't too much of an issue. Will look into polarized sunglasses thought, thanks a bunch.
  18. I am beginning and am selecting a spot mostly based on its nature and relationship to the rest of the lake (structure, depth, bait fish...). However, it seems that everyone else around me is able to see where fish are. I keep on hearing "there's 3 bass there in a whole but they won't bite", or even worse last week I was fishin, some guys pulled over in a pickup, looked around the bank, and took off signaling this was a bad deal....just by looking! I can see a fish in the water, but I can't seem to get the technique behind looking for Bass. Does it matter? Is there a trick? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  19. What sort of bait would you use?
