yea i know where it is, i'm just waiting on the guys who've been fishing there to confirm where they've been catchin' fish.  We'll meet at the swimming pool again around 6ish, i'll call ya.

Trevor,

We caught lmbs in the stump field area near the deeper water.  I would suggest fishing the shaded spots that you can find as that is where they were biting while the sun was high.  If the sun is still bright I would park at the dam and walk down the left hand side of the lake and follow the path around to the back edge of the stump field.  They were hitting  bait fish top water and I saw a huge explosion.  The lmb looked to be bigger than the one my friend caught last night.  You might want to give top water baits a shot based on what I was seeing last night with the bass hiting bait fish topwater.  Let me know how you guys do.

Ron

good luck to yall. Be sure to post up after.

Just saw the tread.  Hope you all had luck tonight.  As I said earlier, the right bank didn't pan out for me, so Ron's suggestion on the left bank sounds good.  Of course when your not hitting, the other bank always looks good.

Sorry, missed this thread.

I'm going to hit Mercer on Sunday morning.

Probably also head over to either Burke Lake or Royal on Saturday morning pre-sunup because I'll need to be home by 8:30ish.

Anyone interested?

Well it's been a terrible year fishing for me - production wise that is, nothing beats being out fishing in general- and last night was no better, I thought I knew what I was doing but these fish in this area either don't eat ever when I'm out or I'm just terrible.

Oh by the way our trip ended with the worst backlash of all time for me when matt was standing behind me fishing and I went to sidearm cast and caught his line, now my curado is completely full of birds-nested line, ugh...

it also didn't help that I was completely paranoid of the two snakes we saw, the whole time, I kept looking over my shoulder while twitching and crankin'.  Note to self ***stop venturing out, just stay on your boat in your backyard where the snakes can't get you***

the report is, I caught one small largemouth on the very first cast of a dark blue senko with lighter blue fleck and the end of the road by the rocks... That's it.

I know how you feel.  I've been skunked every time I've been out so far this year.  Lake Barton is a dead lake as far as I'm concerned at this point.  I haven't seen anyone pull anything at all out.  I have to try my luck elsewhere.

the snakes i saw there were harmless (atleast i'm pretty sure they are) they're black with two parallel yellow stripes down the back and a yellow belly (common ribbonsnake).  I had a few around my feet while i was there the other week. My dogs have killed a few too and brought them to my door.

Sorry to hear about the fishing.  Seems like i'm not the only one struggling this year.

Be that as it may, I don't do snakes.  At all, and the thought of them near me when my attention is on fishing really distracts me from fishing.

Snakes, not good!  The fishing has been hard and we can't beat ourselves up about it.  As long as we keep sharing as much good info as we can, we hopefully can share in the bounty.

I hate those snakes as well.  Sorry to hear that you guys didn't have good luck.
