Hey all sounds like the Occoquan is still giving up some good fish.  I haven't been able to fish there for a couple of weeks, been traveling a lot and then gone out on the Chesapeake a couple times and caught some nice stripers.  It's kinda a bummer cause I'm seeing the summer slip away and then its back to college  :-/.  I'm trying to get out to the Occ a few times this week but dont really know where to start.  For those of you who know what the bites been like would you suggest I launch out of Bull Run or Fountainhead.  Thats mainly what I'm trying to find out but if anyone wants to volunteer where the fish have been holding or whats been working I'd appreciate it too.  And this is kinda off topic a little bit but has anyone fished the Occoquan river where its tidal below the dam lately, I've been meaning to do that too but just havent got around to it

from what i've heard the bite is down river (i think it's down...) towards the potomac, so i guess fountainhead is closer to that direction....

could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure... good luck

Sandy Run and lake ridge are pretty close as well but dont just listen to me I dont know which way is up or down from fountainhead lol ;D

Slipping away LOL oh well back to college. By this time next year some of us will be running not fishing to get ready for enrollment in vmi,not going to back some country club/school :

oh yeah and the bite is usually good in the summer in the occoquan river from my experiance but i was with someone that is afraid of the heavy grass mats :, I fished a club tournement as a non-boater last year and once the sun got high my boater drove over there to fish the marinas,wacky rigged senkos in dark colors gets um

Man I'd hate for someone to do that to me that's just the thing. The other thing is I'm the young gun and I don't like to make stupid mistakes like that you know? Oh well. I really thought that we were far enough but I guess not.

Flippin, I honestly would love to but it's my Dad's weekend to have us kids and we're goin down to the lake and I missed the past weekend with him and haven't seen him in a couple weeks. I'm sorry I have to pass up this offer, but DEFINETLY next time. Sorry

I guess we got a little close put that spot was like a crowded intersection,very tight each way and matt picked the way that gave us a greater berth around the boats, Gerkin could have waved us by him the other way around but it is completely our fault I feel really bad since he was contending to win :-[

the funny thing is in the morning we were alot closer to him, (each of us fishing one side of a cove than) than at the final minutes of the tourney, and when you mentioned c-rigging thats what I thought you meant at first. Some of the nuances of these tournement etiquette

Nah - you guys have already beat yourselves up too much over it.  Gerkin is a good guy, and I'm sure he didn't think much of it (if at all).  The dude who fished with him that day is a good friend of mine, and when he told me about the tourney he made no mention whatsoever of the "incident".  It's all good, don't worry about it.
