I know of a few places from the bank. A good bet is to query Duke Energy for their public access points. I used to have the link. LEGAL public access to water in Charlotte is really a joke compared to other places I have gone. It was one of the big reasons I got my Jon boat.

I know of a good place in Gastonia, off lake Wylie for Catfish and brim. I would be glad to share. A couple good open access points on the SC side of Lake Wylie. There Lake Norman State Park which is supposed ot have some nice spots (never fished it myself)

Found the link http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes/access-information.asp

hey hows it goin man. I actually live in Fort Mill just outside of charlotte and i live right on the lake.  depending on the type of fishin you wanna do i can offer a few places. for open water at about 5-10 feet i suggest nivens creek. off highway 160 on DAM rd. For more heavy cover and more agressive fishin try the tega cay marina. its a great place for pitchin an flippin but also allows for casting around docks. lots of big fish there. Also, one of my favorite spots, although not for bass but for striper is on the same road as nivens creek. it is the lower side of the lake wylie dam where the lake turns into the catawba river.  the levys at the bottom are filled with awsum striper. its a little tricky to monouver uself down there so id suggest a spinnin rod for a longer cast. but that and a white bucktail jig or white topwater are awsum and great fun.  thanks man hit me up sometime
