Miami Canal report

Featured Replies

I went fishing on the miami canal off of alligator alley this fri afternoon.

The small bass were hitting like crazy. I was catching them with almost every cast. The biggest went about 3 lbs.

I was using unweighted worms. I tried lots of colors and they all worked

well except for the methiolate colored worms. I still havent caught anything with that color, so back in the depths of the box they go.

There were alot of gators (big ones) sunning themselves along the bank. Most of them didnt even flinch as we passed by.

A guy fishing on the boat dock said he caught a couple of peacocks using a orange/white floating rapala. I have never seen peacocks caught in that area. If they are, the more the merrier.

I'm glad you got out and caught a few.

Glades,

I was out there also on Friday.  Had the day off and took my little girl out.  She used nightcrawlers and I was throwing senkos and 7 in worms.  I am a novice with soft plastics so it was great practice for me.  Like you said, they were hitting on almost every cast.  Between baiting her hook and untangling her cast attempts  ;)   I still managed about 25 dinks but it was fun.  She caught 7, so she is hooked!

My son in laws were in town so I took them down to Holiday Park xmas day. Zippo, nada, zilch, 1 strike in 4 hours and tossed the kitchen sick at them. Shiners, live nightcrawlers, senkos, raps, etc.

Came home hit my canal and killed them. Go figure, lol.........no place like home!

Hit the beach sunrise next morning and the jacks were in, they had a big thrill catching those bruisers.
