Hey Folks-

Trying to put together a weekend trip this March for Guntersville, and looking to get with a great guide that knows the lake well....

Can anyone make any suggestions?

There's a TV show in Nashville called Wood's and Water. They did a show about Guntersville and their guide was called the spinnerbait kid. He's the only one I've heard of.

I just looked at the picture gallery on his website and found a picture of my neighbor holding a 5# bass.  I'll ask him what he thought about the guide and get back to you.

Many of my clients have also used Tim Chandler and Troy Jens for trips to Guntersville. Troy, last I heard, was getting out of guiding and has a new job working with kids. Yep. Bad info on my part. Ben, Troy would be a great choice also.

I haven't used  him, but several friends have spoken quite well of Alex the Spinnerbait Kid.

Troy Jens is not a full time guide any more, he is employed by the PAA.

Last year on the BassResource.com Roadtrip I fished with him

for two days, the first with ghoti the second with Glenn and Keri.

Here is my two cents worth.. I have fished with both Tim Chandler and Alex Davis (spinnerbait kid). I had a very good time with both and both will put you on fish. I was looking for patterns and types of locations for a Tx with both. I found that Alex did a very good job and he answered every question with no bull. He offered tips and went out of his way to ensure that I had a good time. I had one of the best days on the water with him. Our best 5 easy could break 25# but we only caught one fish at each location and shook the rest off. our total for the day was 20# caught. I did have three days of 19-23# on those spots and spots just like where we were. Tim and I had around 15-16# and that is not to bad either. For the money I would go with Alex but you cant go wrong with Tim either. I was on the water the day Troy called it quits-fulltime. I think that he is still taking out clients that had certificates but not many others. I heard that he was not to shabby on the water.

The Spinnerbait Kid is a really cool guy who knows what he is talking about. He will def put you on some awesome fish. Ive met him a few times last year on the water. Really nice guy.

Also Reed Montgomery of Reeds Guide Service (205) 787-5133. He has helped me out a few times getting ready for tourneys. Also very knowledgable. You cant really go wrong with either. They will both put you on good fish!!
