Featured Replies

Has anyone fished the dulles airport pond in front of the hotel? If there's already been a thread about this I didn't know because the search function doesn't work.

From what I have heard it is illegal to fish there. Like, federal trespassing illegal.

I haven't seen any signs there. I was also told by a MWAA Police Officer that he didn't think people would be bothered if all there doing is fishing.

Then go try it. Just know that it is airport property

I would also assume it would be highly illegal. A second opinion in this case wouldn't hurt.

no opinions from me, just a tip......if you happen to get caught on an airplane DON'T hang on tight and DON'T try to fight it!! just let go of the pole.............. LOL!!

Best get his name and badge number, and make sure he'll vouch for you when you get stopped/caught.

Yeah, it's probably a great idea to trespass on a federally owned lake instead of going to one of the other hundred or so ponds in the Dulles/Centreville area....

I tried it, and caught nothing. After 30+ minutes a Airport cop came by and asked me to leave. He explained that the airlines used to empty jet fuel into that lake , and that it was toxic (no fish), although I did see turtles.
