  2. no opinions from me, just a tip......if you happen to get caught on an airplane DON'T hang on tight and DON'T try to fight it!! just let go of the pole.............. LOL!!
  3. I've travelled to Puerto Rico many times and fished saltwater but never freshwater. Although, on my next trip to Puerto Rico I will be bass fishing............ http://www.elyunque.com/Fishing.html http://www.ese.upenn.edu/~santiago/fishing/PRpeacocks.html http://www.powercruising.com/fishingpr.html Amazing factoid..........""The largemouth bass in Puerto Rico is about the fastest growing bass in the world, reaching 12 inches in less than 1 year, because of the tropical conditions which allow year-round growth. Most of the lakes have a mixed bass population of the Florida and the northern strains. Dr. Lilyestrom advises that there is a down side to the rapid growth, that being the fact that they don't live as long as up north. He informs that there is research being done to find out the reasons for this so that bigger fish can be caught. ""
  4. Micro - Thank you so much!!! very informative and helpful info!! I can't thank you enough.

  10. I can visually picture someone bending and twisting with everyone stopping view the show..........lol. btw.....very nice catch!!! I'm going to have to get my very first wet line at little creek reservoir. If you see someone out there chunkin away and then yelling and screaming because he caught a 1/2# bass..............it's me.
  11. Not many folks that I know fish the Intercoastal. Most of us fish all the creeks and sloughs off of it. Pocaty is full of stumps/structure so you have to be careful running "on step" in there. The Blackwater has a good bit of No Wake areas in it that you have to run to get to the back of it to find good water. You will find that a lot of us launch at West Neck Creek Marina and fish the creek or head south to the creeks off the River. Its brackish water for the most part. Boat traffic on the weekend is pretty heavy on West Neck Creek and the Intercoastal. Lots of skiers and pleasure boats. In the spring/early summer and then again in the fall you will have lots of ocean type yachts running the river. Makes life darned interesting because those fools don't slow down. I have been fishing that area since '76. If you get out that way I'm usually some where up above the bridge on West Neck Creek. Look for a burgundy (red) Skeeter and it will probably be me. Shortbasser Thanks for the detailed info shortbasser!! great stuff!!
  12. micro - have you ever fished the intercostal waterway from the canal locks down to pocaty river and blackwater creek?...........was wondering what it is like, if you have.
  13. totally agree........its how it got into it in the first place. The Steez...........I did months of research as it was an expensive proposition. I wanted to get something that had a lot of quality and would last a long time. I was so confused that I sort of gave up near the end of my research and was about to give up and pick anything when Daiwa just happen to come out with something new. I thought, thats it! I'm getting that! The Steez rods represent the highest build quality of any factory rod I've owned. You are officially ruined....you skipped all the 'steps' that lead to a $300+ rod purchase. You won't be able to purchase a lesser rod from now on....I promise. Don't give up on the casting reel; but the brakes on full blast, and tighten down the cast control knob. You can definitely make the reel almost impossible to backlash, albeit you will get little distance. You can back off the cast control knob slowly but surely. thanks for your thoughts! As much as I luv the Zebco's now, I will give the Steez reel another whirl as you have described.
  14. <---------------------taking notes.
  15. Thank you very much!.........very nice site you have here!

  17. Thanks for your thoughts! I was about to give it up as well, It seems a bit stiff to me. I'll hang onto it now and practice with a lot more.
  18. LOL!!! will do.....just noticed that those are price tags once you mentioned it.
  19. mine looks better though .. lol!!! The next part to this story is the fishing test...... It's perfect really, I'm totally new to the sport, never fished, totally unbiased. lets see what happens.
  20. Not bad for a bassin newbie!! LOL!! The combo was an accident. I tried the baitcasting deal (whole story on the intro forum) and it didn't work out.... for right now. So, I picked up a few Zebco Combos, broke the delta pole and thought.......I wonder how this will work.........the bassinators were born!
  21. ok, LOL!! I'll have to go see the responses.......
  22. Yeah.....it does rock!! I was laughing at myself as I was taking the Steez reel off about to replace it with a Zebco. I thinking to myself this is not going to be good........when I got the Omega on I was like , WHOA!! what the hell!?!?! this is awesome!! Then I put the Delta on and I thought, d**n!!!! even better!!!
  23. That could be likely be the best photo ever posted on this forum. Please consider it. BTW, list your Steez reel on the Flea Market section. Someone will snap it up. Here are the pics!! The Zebco Omega and the Zebco Delta on a Steez Pole!! The bassinators!! LOL!!! That new Zebco Delta reel is really nice as well.......both cast extremely smooth, I can accrurately cast a weight wherever I want, well made, very very nice overall. I seem to cast more accurately with the Delta. Really like them both, they are a joy to cast. Now I need to fish them to see how they really perform. Zebco Omega on a Steez Zebco Delta on a Steez
