WOW!  I wonder what kind of boat it is?  Makes sure he is a member of sea tow and make sure you're covered under his membership.  Sounds crazy to me.

1990 17ft tracker 40 hp, as far as sea tow goes there are plenty of boaters on Lake Ida I'am sure if something goes wrong would give us a tow.

Also after talking to this guy on the phone for over 1/2 hr he's type of guy that takes care of his stuff and makes sure it runs properly. There is alot of companies that do this for saltwater but this is the first I saw that doest it for freshwater,he told me if it goes good with one tracker he's gonna buy 3 or 4 more.

There is definitely a market for it,tired of renting those small jon boats with the 9.9hp at holiday park and sawgrass rec too squirly for me.

I doubt seriously that after he looks into getting insurance, paying his taxes to the IRS, getting county and city business licenses, and filing monthly sales tax reports, that he will be interested in this adventure.

In addition, it's tough when a boat comes back with a blown engine, or a skeg busted off, etc. It's a tough business.

Seems like a decent enough deal depending on how often you plan on renting. The other option, where I see many boats, is a storage facility and many open 24 hours.....cost is reasonable.

I'm involved with some friends that are members of a boat rental club for saltwater. Each of them were boat owners in saltwater in the New York area, down the line none of them would ever own again, rental is the way to go. The fee for this club is $4200 initiation, then $100 per month, gas and go and they clean the boat. The ensuing years have no one time fee, just a $100 rental. Quality boats and many of them.

My son in law moved his boat from Michigan, he's a pleasure boater. He had a boat costing over a 100k and things were fine until he got to the point that every outing seemed to have an expense attached to it $500+, then each inboard went........big money to replace both of those, not to mention $4000 a year insurance, dockage $500 per month and tropical storm pulls. Sold his boat and now a boat club member.

I cant speak for the gentlemen but I doubt he's gonna do any of that, kinda like those guys that cut grass not all of them but a majority them don't even have a business license more less insurance and as far as the engine getting blown I'am sure he realizes this the  risk he is taking, btw this isn't no $50,000 bass boat, its been around but it puts u on the water and comfortable we caught 8 fish 6 peacock bass and 2 Large mouth. Also this guy isnt gonna let any joe rent his boat,he's renting it to guys that have been around fishing and boats. And he was a green brier for 27 years so we took extra special care of it while we were using it LMAO!
