Hook For Wacky Rig?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what type of hook everyone uses for a Wacky Rigged Senko? I usually throw mine on a 3/0, 4/0, or 5/0 weedless kahle live bait hook. If you use a regular EWG hook how weedless have you found it to be. I like to fish my wacky rig real slow and just kind of let it sink.

I am using the Eagle Claw or Gamakatsu wire guard hooks for wacky rigs.

The Eagle Claw have larger eyes so they are easier to tie your line using a Palamor Knot.

I use a 2/0 or a 3/0 the most depending on the situation and body of water and size of fish expected to be caught.

I have 1/0 through 5/0 wire guard hooks so I have one size for whatever situation I encounter.

OK, size of fish expected to be caught????  Yes, on lakes I go with a 3/0 or a 4/0 while on rivers I have found the 2/0 and 3/0 sizes to do well.

In ponds it is usually a 1/0 or a 2/0.

Give the wire guard hooks a try. I think you may like them.

Thanks guys I usually throw the Eagle Claw Wire Guard Hooks with this set up.

For wacky rigged Stickbaits I use a 1/0 EWG hook. I tend not to wacky rig

in or around weeds.

I agree.  I really like this technique for weed clumps.  I use a 2/0 or 3/0 gammy octopus for a 5" stick bait.

2/0 Gammie Finesse Wide Gap

I tried the Gammy Weedless Finesse wide gap, but could only find it locally in a 1 size. Also, the weedguards came open too easy in the heavy salt cedar that is predominate in my main lake. I started using the Gammy Finesse Wide Gap 3/0 and tieing my own weedguards on. Use a loop of cheap 50lb mono that works in the brush and grass.
