Okeechobee

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I am wondering if someone can help me. I want to take my son to Okeechobee to give him a shot at getting a really big bass. My question is,,,, what month of the year would give me the best chance of doing this?

Any thoughts comments? All appreciated.  Thanks

I would say pretty much now until the end of March. That is when the big momma's are most likley on beds. PM me and I'll give you the name of a great guide or two out of Clewiston if you want a guide

I would stretch that out till May, Okeechobee has some of its strongest big fish spawns late in the season.

If its just big bass you want you may want to consider changing the trip to ToHo. While Okeechobee has its monsters its not known for its giant bass, just quantity of 6,7,and 8's.

Thats very interesting info..where is ToHo?

It is on the edge of Kissimmee outside of Orlando.

The actual name is Lake Tohopekaliga.

Many things to do nearby as well.

Me personally I would go to Stick Marsh/Farm 13. There are monster bass in that impoundment. I have personally seen them myself.

yes, to stick marsh. we had a club tourny there in nov. it took 30 pounds to win day 2.

How did you have a tourn there? Was it a photo/release torunament?

paper tourny, u use the boards with the inches on one side and weight on the other. your best 5 weights count.

I would not even try a paper tourny on the StickMarsh....it is immediate release only!!

many clubs do and have never had a problem

Paper tournaments are perfectly legal on the Marsh. The fish is weighed, measured, and photoed, which is no different than what everyone does. What keeps a paper tournament honest is that the people on the same boat are fishing against each other.

We have two or three clubs that do this each year.
