  1. 15lb Spiderwire Invisbraid on the spinners,,.30lb on the baitcasters. If I am near rocks,I tie a co poly leader via and Albright knot. Other than that, straight braid is the deal..Sharpie marker is something you can use to color it black if it makes you feel more comfortable.
  2. It's a good thing in one respect,,it will help melt that ice on the reservoirs!
  3. Ya gotta have more than one hobby. I am an archer,so I am occupied all winter. I also try venison recipes for the deer I harvested in the fall.
  4. They're supposed to have addressed that issue, I haven't had one do it for a long while. Really,,I wasn't aware of them addressing the problem, have you confirmed this?
  5. Absolutely,on almost everything.
  6. Without a doubt, the Lucky Craft Suspending Pointers are an outstanding bait. Yes,at 14.99 a pop they are a bit pricey, but they are an excellent bait. Rapala X-Raps are good also, but that ball gets stuck in the tail end of the bait sometimes, when that happens,it stands straight up. I tend to stay away from them because of that. Lucky's in Aurora Black,Ghost Minnow,& Chartruese Shad are the staple colors here.
  7. I never fish these things. I am going to as soon as the waters thaw here. I have 5" Money Minnows rigged on an Owner weighted hook. My question is,,,should my line be tied directly to the hook,or can I use a snap with it?
  8. you would think this guy had stock in berkley. :
  9. Shimano Crucial is a good choice
  10. I really like throwing them on the Owner Ultraheads.
  11. nope
  12. Wiggles are very good,,why change?
  13. LoL ;D Why is that funny? It is a fine reel in the price range asked about. If you have a suggestion, make it; if not... Some people feel that if it doesn't say Shimano or Daiwa (or possibly Revo) on the reel then it couldn't possibly be any good. Not a mind reader so I don't know why he is laughing. Just putting out one possible explanation. Absolutely correct.
  14. LoL ;D Why is that funny? It is a fine reel in the price range asked about. If you have a suggestion, make it; if not... x2 ! I looked at the Patriarch XT and it has great specs. I ended up with a BPS Carbonlite instead but that's a story for another thread... ;D Great specs doesn't make it a good reel. By the way, BPS reels are even worse than a Pflueger.
  15. LoL ;D Why is that funny? It is a fine reel in the price range asked about. If you have a suggestion, make it; if not... Daiwa & Shimano are the only reels any fairly serious fisherman should be looking at. Comparing a Pflueger to those 2 companies is just silly.
  16. One of the best buys is the Daiwa Exceler. I know a site that sells them for 64.99 shipped,I have a 2000,and had a 2500,,both very good.
  17. 6/0 Owner Beast,, 1/4oz I believe.
  18. I use Braid all all my reels,Baitcasters included. If I fish in or near rocks, a piece of P-LINE CXX takes care of that. In weeds its all straight bright colored braid. So..yes I use it,mostly use SPIDERWIRE INVISIBRAID in 15lb test on my spinning gear with no issues at all.
  19. I have always used either Gammy Octopus 2/0 or Owner Mosquito 2/0 for Wacky rigging. I was curious if anyone here uses Owner MUTU CIRCLE HOOKS. They say on the back, don't set the hook, fish lip hooks itself..anyone have experience?
  20. Falcon makes a nice rod..but...... I had a Lowrider that was given to me, it did not have a Fuji Reelseat..the reel never sat nice and snug, always loose. Hopefully they only use Fuji's now.. Also,,the ones I had were rated too high,,they were quite soft for the ratings they were given.
  21. Lots of hooks and uses. Texas weightless,on Owner Twistlocks,or Gammy G-Locks,or Wide Gaps take your pick. You can bed fish with them, you can Drop Shot em,I like to twitch and drop over weeds,,you can nose hook em also..you are only limited by your imagination
