Do you tip your spinner bait? If so, with what? Do you match the bait to the skirt color? what has worked for you?

I usually don't use a trailer, but I do use a trailer hook.  There are some spinners that have a skirt that is trimmed to allow some of the strands to hang lower and sort of look like a trailer - can't remember who makes 'em - I have used those.

I tip all my spinnerbaits regardless of color with a white split tail trailer.  Classic case of I saw it on TV and so did it.  Hank Parker tipped all his baits this way.  It just sorta stuck with me.

I don't usually use trailers but my bro. swears by it.

In stained or muddy water I'll put a 2 or 3 inch curly tail grub on the trailer hook for a little added bulk and action.

i like to take the skirt off a spinnerbait and just put a money minnow on the hook or even a fluke works nice

I believe that you are thinking about the War Eagle spinnerbaits. They feature that same skirt design that you described. I use War Eagle Finesse spinnerbaits that have the same skirt just smaller. Or you can just flip the skirt around on regular spinners to get that same look. No trailer just trailer hook.

On another note the Strike King Rocket Shad spinnerbaits are a good little finesse spinner as well. I just tweak them a bit. I take off the double hook that is on there and put on a Gammy Siwash Open eye hook in size 1 and pinch the eye shut with pliers. The hook moves around like the megastrike strikeback spinner so you dont loose fish. I have never lost a fish on this setup(no trailer hook needed).

I will often use a white spinnerbail and put a purple 8" zoom worm on it. The bass love it!!

x2 - I picked up twin tail trailers from *** a while back and there is almost always one on any spinner bait I'm throwing.

One a separate note ~ my wife flat Wore Me Out in the rain late week on a 1/4 oz classic on a spinning rod - ouch.
