  1. T-rigged...brand? I like Gambler Ugly Otters.
  2. Depends on what the lure is. But,,I do not use "Snap Swivels",,just a snap, and that snap is a Berkley Crosslock.
  3. I am assuming you are talking about a true jointed swimbait. They are pricey..why not try a paddle tail type,,Money Minnow etc..before you drop a bunch of cash on the pricey ones.
  4. Zoom Finesse Worm just about always produces for me. Of course, a 7 inch Berkley Power worm Texas rigged must be way up on the list of Bass catchers. I rig the Finesse Worm on a 1/16oz Owner Ultra head. The Power Worm,a 4/0 Owner Twistlock.
  5. I use a Zillion in 4.9:1,you will appreciate this low ratio, especially when throwning deep divers.
  6. Epic Backlashes & slippery knots? :-? Yep, remember when people used to glue their knots before they learned which ones worked and which ones might slip? Anybody who has used braid extensively should know how difficult it is to pull a serious backlash out. It's all I use,,and it's actually easier to get a backlash out of braid than it is mono.
  7. Good for you Roadwarrior, you've seen the light!I use braid,in Yellow and White...for EVERYTHING!.Worried about fish seeing the braid? Permanent marker and theres your camoflage. Lots of you guys I think, are old school, don't wanna change etc.. The stuff is just better.Sensitivity, much easier hookset,no stretch, lasts much longer, the list goes on and on. Yes,braid is not good around rocks, but thats where you tie on a leader. Even with a leader attached,it's a zillion times better than fluoro or mono or copoly. This nonsense about braid having no stretch and pulling hooks out of a fishes mouth? Can't throw crankbaits? Cmon guys, adjust your drags accordingly and things will be rosy. It can be used for EVERYTHING with very good results. Exclusive BRAID user since 1994.
  8. Epic Backlashes & slippery knots? :-?
  9. That wouldn't happen to have been in Grant would it?
  10. Consider a Gammy?
  11. I have never made anything. I still haven't,but I bought some ProTec Powder Paint. I tried it tonight on some Owner Ultra Heads. The trouble I was having was sometimes instead of the jig head turning glossy black like its supposed to,it turned a matte black,or partial matte & Partial Gloss..Any idea why I am getting these inconsistent results?
  12. Yes, for smallmouth bass in water below 50 deg F, hair jigs and live bait are my first choice. Roger I was asking if you used a "trailer" when you use a hair jig.
  13. AllStar is not what they were at one time. You are not going to get a "good" rod for under 80 beans. St Croix Triumph Series might possibly be under 80 depending on what length, but its not a "GOOD" rod,,it's an ok rod.Good rods will have good conponents,FUJI reel seats& guides,,Alconites, not Hardloys.Of course,my opinion on whats good,is of course,my opinion. That being said,I use St. Croix Avids, and Daiwa Zillions. They are definitely "GOOD" rods, probably very good.
  14. Does anyone here use a trailer with a hair jig?
  15. LC..Aurora Black, Ghost Minnow, Chartruese Shad..those are probably the most popular color, although I have caught plenty on maany other colors. I believe Cadence, not color is much more important.
  16. The Fireline is about the best in the american stuff....want even better? Japanese stuff..Daiwa Samurai for one.
  17. LC's ..Aurora Black, Ghost Minnow,Chartruese Shad. These are probably the most popular colors, but I have caught them on just about every color. I believe cadence matters more than color with any bait. I wouldn't buy X-Raps,the weight transfer ball gets stuck in the tail alot. Makes the bait sit vertically in the water, not good.
  18. Of course..no stretch. Braid rules for everything! And don't listen to that nonsense about Crankbaits and braid, and losing fish to no stretch. You CAN use braid for everything! ADJUST your drag accordingly. I use it exclusively, works like a charm.
  19. What prevents them from sliding off the front end of the rod easily? Do they just fit tightly? or is there some type of restraints you have to fasten?
  20. I normally rig them on Owner Ultra Heads.
  21. well if you list the plastics you are interested in trying, we can go from there.
  22. Why don't you throw a Football jig out there? Suspending Jerkbait?
  23. How do I catch some? Traps? Anyone good at this ?
  24. The first generation Revo Premiers drag trouble is well known. Some of the reels have almost no drag, some of them work decent, all depends on what you happened to get, Theres a design flaw in those reels,no doubt about it.Maybe the new pimped out looking one with the gold trim has fixed the problem.
  25. As long as you are throwing baits that are on the heavy side, the Citica is fine.
