Lucky Craft Lv-0 Lipless (lipped) Crankbait

Featured Replies

Hey I just started using this lure around my area, and it works great. Every other lipless crankbait I throw dives down too deep and collects weeds etc in the 1-3 foot water I fish. What I was wondering is, is there any other lipless crank lure that acts just like the Lv-0? Meaning a lipless crankbait that stays shallow, and doesn't hit the bottom in 1-2 feet of water? This lure works amazing for me, just wanted to know if there was something else very similiar to it. Also a fat crankbait that does this too, would be cool.

This is the only lipless crank lure I have found that I can cast out in my local ponds, and come up weedless 95% of the time in 1-2 foot of water.

We all fished Rat-L-Trap or like lures at Guntersville last week in very shallow water. In order to fish the lure, you hold the rod tip high and retrieve as fast as possible. This technique put fish in just about everyone's boat.

I think the LC lure you are talking about is a "Wake bait" it is ment to run at the surface so that you have a "V" shaped wake behind the lure. If you are interested in a "Fat" lure, Mann's and excalibur make a nice fat crankbait shaped wake bait. I just started using this type of top water lure but I know that many fishermen have been modifying stickbaits to run at the surface for years.

The LV-0 is an awesome, yet mostly ignored lipless crankbait.  It is the easiest lipless bait to fish in shallow water.  No need to hold the rod high, reel fast, use a small bait or heavier line.

You can also slow roll this bait as well, slowly moving it along above the grass or bottom, and still get good vibration and noise.

Keep tossing that little LV0.  It's a great bait.

I do a lot of fishing with lipless crankbaits, most of which in less than 5 feet of water.  My favorite two go-to lipless crankbaits are the xcaliburs and yo-zuri's.  Both of which run true right out of the box and for the life of the lure.  As for you're problem of the lure hitting the bottom too quick, there are a couple things you can try.  first try using some monofilament, if you are using flourocarbon the line will sink sending the lure to the bottom much quicker.  Monofilament stay afloat better keeping the lure above the weedline.  If that does'nt work, try a light bait, most lipless crankbaits come as light as 3/8 oz-1/2 oz which should work great for your application. In combination with these two things try a longer rod, I use a 7 foot mh rod and keep the tip up high, and reel that lure in fast.  Lipless crankbaits are a fantastic reaction bait, especially in shallow water.  Burn that lure in over those weeds and you should find great results.

Good luck fishing
