Anybody had any luck fishing the Chickahominy river last weekend?

Featured Replies

I was out on the chick last weekend and had no luck at all. All I caught was snagged shad on baits . Where have the bass gone . Looks like a nice weekend coming up . Sure would like to catch some this weekend .

Where have the bass gone? What was the water temp last week? Probably still in the 40s. Catching bass on the Chick in cold water (and that's cold for the Chick) is tough. Try near the dam. If you have a fish finder, look for balls of baitfish near the dam. Fish just oustside those balls. Suspending cranks that get down to 15 fee to so, like suspending DD22s will work. Silver Buddies will, too. Fish slow. Winter isn't over and bass are still on their cold winter patterns on the Chick.

If you aren't picking up any bass, start throwing some heavy jigs with craw trailers near the dam and you'll pick up some big Blue Cats, and maybe a big *** Bowfin or two.
