Fishing in West Boca

Featured Replies

I took my nephew fishing on Sunday to a little hole in West Boca.  This little pond is only 3/4 of an acre, but has provided some really nice catches.  We caught 20 fish in a little less than 2 hours.  We were throwing junebug senkos into the wind and letting them drift back towards a weedline.  It was pretty fun stuff!  Here's a couple pics.

Looks like a good day you guys had.  Some decent fish right there.

This is where you share where the spot is now  :D

I did! It's in West Boca  ;)  There's a park out there off of Yamato.

Looks like Caloosa Park?

Caloosa Park is off Congress near Golf rd, big bass in the canal behind the pond.

Pretty sure I know this pond.

Caloosa is in Boynton.  I've fished that canal before.  Canals kick my butt, I never know what to throw.  I was at South County Regional Park when we caught these.  I had to google it, lol.

I have fished South County before, there are bass there and I do prefer ponds vs canals but I seem to catch more and larger fish from the canals.  I'm in Delray so not far from you, be happy to mention some  canals I fish.

What do you normally throw in the canals?  I throw a ton of plastics but have never had that much luck.  I fished the canal behind Caloosa today and caught 4 on junebug senkos and 2 out of the pond there.

The caloosa canal is fairly clean of floating grass and high weeds so I fish xraps, rattle traps and spoons.  Most of the canals near me have a lot of weeds so I use plastic flukes almost exclusively, I'm not into worms but I should use them more.

The canals on 441 are pretty clean, you can use anything.

We had an east wind for change, lots of spanish mackerel  on the beach, smallish.
