Occoquan Reservoir

Featured Replies

Has anyone caught any flathead out of the reservoir?  I am wanting to get some basic information on where to find and what to fish with?  Any help would be appreciated!

I don't normally fish for cats there but have caught quite a few when I do. I've done well in Bull Run near the Kincheloe soccer fields. I used live sun fish or half of a fresh cut sunny depending on size.

I was fishing a tourney last year when I hooked a 25 lb flat...needless to say I thought I was winning big fish that day until that cat showed its ugly face.

My friend caught a 43-pound catfish from the Occ Rez using that Powerbait catfish stuff (blood flavor I think) b/c that's all he had on hand. Having said that, live bait or cut bait is best if you can get some. If I remember, he caught his monster from a deep hole with wood cover up near the split.
