i have been wanting to fish guntersville for years. my dad is getting older and has lung cancer, he has fish our home lake all his life. (which is a very tough lake) and i was wanting to take him on a fishing trip the last of may (memorial weekend)

i was looking for some info on the lake. we love fishing the grass and i know this is a grass lake, i was wanting some lodgeing info? would life something on the lake with easy boat launch, clean and cheap. also it the lake easy to travel, any real shallow hump in the lake, and what lure colors seem to work on this lake. thank for any info

I have no idea of the price as I have never stayed there but I have heard nothing but good reviews about it. The Holiday Inn is on the water also [ftp]http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/gunal/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=mdpr-_-googlemaps-_-hi-_-gunal[/ftp]. As far as the lake it's easy to maneuver on, All the hazards that I know of are clearly marked with warning buoys. The Walmart in Guntersville sells a great lake map with gps coordinates indicating pretty good fishing spots. A lot of the grass hasn't busted through the surface yet so its hard to find. Watching your depth finder is a good indicator as well as search baits. Grass that is on the flats close to the main channels are a good place to start. Also ledges close to the grass lines and channels is a super place to fish soft plastics, Deep diving crank baits and jigs and BIG worms and BIG lizards red,junebug, pumpkin chartreuse is that order 8 to 12 inch size is the best(for me anyway) Most of the stumps are located into what I call the backwater. I love using a big jigs with a powerbait chigger craw as a trailer on the ledges as well in the grass. Guntersville is loaded with humps and bumps and you can almost catch fish on any of them at any given time. Lipless crank baits around rip rap and spinner baits and chatter baits around shoreline works too.
