Dear Southwest by God Virginia,

Your territory will be invaded by northern Yankees!

Your waters will be outfished.

Your small shops will run out of alcohol.

Your women... well, we'll leave them alone, we like ours with ALL teeth.

Pave way you southwestern bucks, NOVA's coming to town.

We usually let our kids battle you pansies.  No use wasting ammo on yankees.

did you say kids?

prepare for our invasion! look out for the white rhino (aka my long white van with tinted windows)

Chubs woulda veena better than some of the smallies we were pulling in. Largest smallie was 17, next largest was probably 10. Largest musky was 31", and the only one. We got nailed by rain on the first day. Campsite had no running water, bathroom, or showers. Dan lost a combo. I sat on my multi-tool, pliers up, and have a bruisedass.. I lost a magic swimmer, 3 cranks, my dignity and ability to talk ish to swva-ers.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the second days weather made the 6 hour drive worth it.

  • Super User

Well at least I didnt bet on you guys.

Note: TMI with the pliers.

Oh well I guess theres always another rematch,  Just have to spank em then!!

  • Super User

I spent about 75% of the time throwing an inline spinner for musky and had one follow and splash me at the boat. I spent 15% of the time trying to snag the Cumara + Stradic that I lost overboard in 12ft of water to no avail. The rest of the time was throwing a jig/crank for smallies...also to no avail.

For some reason I still thought it was a nice trip.

Dan that's really beautiful country there and no matter how well or poorly you do, or you think you do,   All you have to do is look around and you will realise just how good life is.

was the water too murky to dive in for it?

i think i might have gone swimming if i were you!

  • Super User

It wasn't murky but it wasn't clear enough to see. Also, it would have been very difficult to get in and out of the kayak to go in after it. Last thing I wanted was to tip over and lose more stuff.

  • Super User

All you guys should have taken were 3" white and pumpkinseed grubs and a crapload of 1/8 oz. unpainted leadhead jigs.

  • Super User

Yeah, I thought about it. I think some of us threw them for a while.

I wish I tried more things on sunday but time wasn't on my side.

I really felt like the fish were just much more active on sunday.  on saturday I tried flukes, tubes, senkos, jigs, jerkbaits, topwater, creature baits but nothing even had a follow. it wasn't till i tried shallow cranks that we started to catch fish. even then, the bites were minimal and far between.

I really want a rematch.

  • Super User

We'll have a rematch later in the summer and we'll invite the SWVA crew so we can have a SWVA/NOVA fish off.

  • Super User

Where did you guy's go?
