New to fishing in NOVA

Featured Replies

Hey guys I just recently started fishing and am still exploring areas around Lorton where I reside. I usually go to burke lake, but don't catch bass there but caught some decent sized crappies. I don't own a boat and have only rented a couple times. I also go to lake M, but havent really tried different areas. I've attached a image of a body of water close to my house and was wondering if you think there might be some decent fish or is it not even worth trying? THanks

Never fished there but it might be worth a shot.

If that pond is close to your house and there is no No Fishing Signs, I would definitely fish it. You will be surprised at what you find in ponds like that around here.

I'm with them.  There's some tiny ponds around with decent sized fish.  If there's no signs saying you can't fish, I'd throw a lure or two in there and see what you come out with.  It's the only way to know.

I've been told that pond has been hit hard by the handliners

The guys you see that use a plastic soda bottle for a reel.

Otherwise known as the "Cuban yo yo" but it's been adopted by many others..... ::)
