The Okeechobee rig

Featured Replies

It's a creature bait pegged to a sinker.  no more, no less.

Fished The Okeechobee rig not the bait. I like it in lilly pads slide rite between them better than T-rig. I used it with a tube. works good. Though fish will throw weight off the hook sometimes.

"It's a creature bait pegged to a sinker.  no more, no less."

yes that is true, But the weight is at the back of the lure, line at front. so when it hits heavy cover it dosen't have to turn when line is tightend. Goes straight in straight out. Like i said works good in pad

Ironic isn't it? We strive to catch fish. We hook 'em up. Bait companies strive to catch customers. They hook us up. ;D

How does the weight connect to the bait?  Unless it somehow attaches to the line or hook I would think you would lose a lot of weights.

It has a loop that fits around the hook. I have lost a few

But the weight is at the back of the lure,

You can put the weight anywhere you wish.  But unless the laws of physics have changed the end with the weight on it will be the end that hits the bottom first.

I have lost a few

Yep.
