Anyone fishing this weekend after all this rain?

  • Super User

Me and my dad will try to hit up Aquia Landing this weekend

Thoughts on if it will rough going after the storm moved through or do you think it might help the bite?

I am fishing Burke on Sunday. The bite has not been that great for me lately, so I hope this rain helps. Sunday is supposed to have some cool temps, I hope that helps also. I do have a game plan to go for the big bite, just hope I can stick with it.

Hey intheweeds...... how did that trips go?  Hope it beat mine yesterday.

@ Bigbarge50. My buddy caught 3, no keepers. I got skunked. It was tough. I will be out again soon to give it another try. We did have a big muskie follow a 7 inch plastic worm all the way to the boat.

Too bad on the muskie.....

Burke has been real tough lately.... real tough.  Any ideas?  I slow dragged the bush piles off the points at a snails pace yesterday with jigs..... I ripped some loud rattling cranks...... I used spinner baits on slow and steady retrieves, and yo yo-ed em in.....Used a jerk bait and some small top waters in the shallows.... Nothing.

Not sure if they were just super inactive, I was trying the wrong depths (currently no electronics....so no way to see thermoclines) or it was just Burke being Burke.....

Just another tough day at Burke I guess unless I am missing a fall pattern....

I dont like Burke Lake. I've only caught one bass in 25+ times going there, and that fish came on a boat.

And you can almost forget shore fishing that place is packed!!!

Although when we were heading back to the car me and my grandpa saw a whole lotta bluegill shadows so we tried our hand with worms and bobbers, but no luck

So looks like I will be getting out of work early today..... so if I am going to hit the water..... which one do we think?

Burke was a real miss again the other day.

Leaning towards huntsman..... but maybe fountainhead....

Opinions on this nice sunny, crisp fall day appreciated.... will be leaving work probably after 12, getting gear, and going so comment away

My friend caught his 3 fish on a crankbait in craw color. I was throwing a jig. we marked shad balls at about the 14 to 16 foot depth. We were also marking some fish at this depth, but not many. The deepest diving crank that we had was 10 a 10 foot diver. I also thew a carolina rig, but got nothing. Burke is tough.

Where did you go and how did you do?

I haven't got a chance to fish burke this year..  Last time I went was last spring during the spawn.  Caught 5 at 4+ lb.....they are in there, you just have to find them.  Maybe i'll have time next weekend and fish there as I haven't during fall.

Diesel.... I got office spaced.....

Walking to the door and my Lumbergh shows up and asks me to stay and help with some stuff.

So by the time I got out it was much closer to darkness, and there was a supposed to be rain for about 30 minutes over huntsman, so I went to dicks and shopped for lures instead..... if I can't cast em, might as well buy em.

Still curious if people are fishing fountainhead and if it is producing.

Bigbarge50, I was at Fountainhead on Sat. I talked to a couple of guys that fished the classic the weekend before, they said the bite is really slow. They said the week leading up to the classic had a real hot spinnerbait bite, then the fish got lockjaw. Never know though it could turn on again.

PS.... I love the Lumbergh reference. lol
