I have not been on Jennings since 94.   Used to live close to that lake, but fished Hodges, San V, El Captain, Otay and others more.

Welcome to the forum.

thanks...and yeah...how did you do at san V.? ive been there a couple of times and only caught 3-4 every time... its not a bad amount but i wish i could do better...any suggestions for San V.?

thanks in advance

The time I fished it during an ABA tournament, those fish were acting funny.  I probably would to it was 45 degrees with a 15 mph wind in November  ;).  A lot of those guys in the tournament that caught fish (over half the field blanked) caught them on jerkbaits, because they had suspended and weren't relating to anything particular.  I am sure you noticed all the submerged grasslines on the deeper banks. I tried punching the grass, with no luck. We did find lots of fish relating to the grass, that would simply follow a jerkbait, but would not eat it.  I think they would totally kill a deep suspending jerkbait on those grasslines with the right weather. Just my 2 cents.  When I fish my next tournament there, that is one I going to try to pattern.

The best working baits this time of the year at Lake Jennings are any green colored fat Ikas flylined on a 4/0 ewg worm hook casted out over bottom structure.Let it sink to the bottom then dead stick it for at least two minutes or more with slight rod  twitches in between. This technique will also work with football style jigs in black with red/blue or brown tones with pork or plastic crawdad style Trailers coated with pink smelly Jelly crawdad flavor.Senkos also work wonders in the 4 inch size in the green colors.Fish these baits slow and you will catch fish in this Lake and any other lakes in the San Diego area.If your a Tournament fisherman and need a quick limit Dropshotting works well But your average fish will tend to be smaller.
